How bad do u want Mcdavid? I say a good trade for both teams would be something like this: Phaneuf(Alberta boy), Gardiner(has played with Schultz), Rielly(the stud in the deal), Kadri (50-70 pts center) and Reimer or Bernier. For Mcdavid, Draisaitl and Nurse. It gives Oilers stability on the back end for years to come, it gives them speed and point production from back end, as well as a shutdown dman, hopefully the goalie situation would b solved as well. They have enough talent up front. Leafs would keep their 4 & 24 pick to continue rebuild. There r no guarantees with Mcdavid he could be the next Daigle or the next Crosby. The 5 players from the Leafs r guaranteed nhl caliber players who would solve a lot of Oilers problems. Defense wins. Do u fill one hole or Five. Mcdavid is a great talent but u need a team with skilled forwards and dmen, just ask Crosby and Malkin. 1 or even 2 generational players don't guarantee a cup. Leafs r the ones taking a chance Draisaitl and Nurse have proved nothing yet but they should b good nhl players a few years down the road. You have to give talent to get talent. Let the bashing begin. Lol

You want Edmonton to assume more than $25m projected withouth sensing any money back to toronto other than entry level deals? Phaneuf ($7mper) Gardiner ($4.75mper) Bernier($4-5mper) or Reimer($2.4mper) and Kadri($4.5-5mper). I think Edmonto will take the risk of deafting someone than acquiring half a team that hasn't accomplished anything thenselves.

As far as the dude really. I said at the beginning how bad do u want Mcdavid. That's what it would take to make Edmonton think twice. Yes I believe Edmonton would win in the short term and be well set up for the future. Toronto would lose in the short term but isn't that the point we truly need to start from scratch. If we trade Kessel for the best available non nhl dman and more prospects we would be well on our way to the rebuild.(G.Reinhart, Pulock, draft Provorov or Hanifin) possibly to name a few along with Nurse.
