Warning: Long post because of player list the New GM will have do dissect.

The Leafs don't want to make a snap decision for replacing Treliving but time will soon be of the essence. We do know they have for quite a while (Even before Treliving was let go) talking with a few candidates. Some the media have let us know about and others that have been kept quiet.

That clock is ticking for the New G.M every hour of everyday. In a few days the regular season is done and that G.M needs to be able to talk to each and every player to get their input into what the G.M wants to implement. Whether it is a retool, or a rebuild.

He has Different tiers of players to guage their reaction and if they are on board for his vision for the team.

No Movement players.

5 of them. Matthews,Nylander,Tavares,Reilly,Tanev.

and No Trade players.

1 of them.

If they are not fully on board then they will be asked to submit a short list of where they might be inclined to be moved to. Tanev depending on his Health after the Surgery might be urged to go on the LTIR. He then is actually allowed to work as a coach or a scout without affecting the LTIR so long as he doesn't play. He would be a fantastic assistant coach I think for defensemen.


RFA players.

4 of them.

Tverberg,Villeneuve,Quillan and Robertson.

I would let Tverberg go, Qualify Quillan and Robertson and Villeneuve. I think Villeneuve might try and see if he gets offers. Quillan I think sees a potential spot in the lineup for him and might accept the Qualifying offer. Robertson might try the market but by qualifying we will get at least something in return. a 3rd round pick or if someone went $2.3 or higher for him a 2nd round pick.

UFA Players.

Jarnkrok and Stecher

Let Jarnkrok walk If we didn't have Danford and Chadwick on the rise I would have kept Stecher but it's not fair for him to not play. He is a steady D-man. But only a depth guy going forward here.

Players with Team Lists they will allow to be traded to.

Joshua 12 teams
OEL 16 teams
Carlo 8 teams but only 3 teams After July 1
Stolarz 8 teams but 16 teams After July 1

All of these players have their teams already submitted to the team now. On July 1 they have to submit a new list of teams. So the GM has to guage in interviews with the players if they might be changing some of the teams on their lists on July 1.

If Carlo is to be moved then for sure you want to do that sooner than later while there are 8 teams on that list before it shrinks to 3.

The players that can be traded with no restrictions at all.

Knies, Cowan,Woll,Lorentz,Akhtyamov,Haymes,Pezzetta,Benoit,Myers

Whatever plan the new G.M has rides a lot on your No Movement players. One contract in specific affects chasing any free agents and that is Reilly's. There is not a lot of salary saving or potential player returns in the rest of the Roster other than Knies,Cowan and OEL

Nylander has said he doesn’t want to be there for a full rebuild so he would waive his NTC and Rielly suggested two days ago that he want to be there but if the team doesn’t want him he might be interested in moving on!
