My crack at what I hope the leafs roster looks like next year

Marleau - Matthews - Nylander
JVR - Bozak - Marner
Komarov - Kadri - Brown
Hyman - Moore - Kapanen

Reilly - Carrick
Gardiner - Hainsey
Dermott - Zaitsev

I think Martin should be scratched and doesn't belong on the roster

Pretty much everybody on the current leafs roster ( forwards) has like 30 point potential with the exception of maybe Moore, replacing one of them with a 8 point fighter makes absolutely no sense.

I think leafs should hang on to JVR unless there is a serious return for him. Maybe a package.

Haven't seen much on him but I'm just throwing it out there:

To Colorado
Bracco + Johnsson + Lindberg+ 2028 1st

To Toronto
Erik Johnson

Colorado gets some young forwards and a 1st to boost their rebuild and Toronto gets an established right handed D man

D now would look like this while current forward core is untouched

Reilly- Johnson
Gardener- Zaitsev
Hainsey- carrick

I think this would be a pretty good trade to boost our squad this year. Maybe the trade could be altered but I think going for Erik Johnson and trading some non roster players would be good. Maybe trading Rychel Sosh or Leivo would work better but let me know your guys thoughts!

I don't know if the Leafs would pursue Johnson and the Avs would probably not mind dropping him and his cap. As for the line up, that's pretty much what it should be, BUT Babs will not take Martin out, he's too important to the bench and if someone roughs up the wonder kids they know next shift they have to answer to Martin, without Martin in the line up who else can do what he does? Martina role is far more important than 8 points, his presence allows the kids to play with creativity and confidence creating chances, it's a risk to scratch Martin.

Jeremy Bracco is untouchable. Maple Leafs would be nuts to trade for Erik Johnson.

It's too bad it wasn't as easy as removing Martin from the line up but I'm on the dbone06 train . He's good in the room and most importantly other teams would be less likely knowing he will be sniffin' around to put a hurting on whoever if someone takes a run at one of the Triple Beam Dream . I would rather have Martin on the roster before that could happen than acquiring a player like him after.
