Let's try the same prop base as RLF did for Seattle.

To NYR
Marner $9.49M ($1.5M retained)
Liljegren RFA

To Toronto
Lafreniere $2.325M/ 1yr RFA
Schneider RFA
2924 4th

Pretty much same reasons as RLF listed from the Seattle prop.

Thoughts?

I can't see how the Rangers could do this one. They only have 18 players signed next season with $10.5M projected cap space. The deal would leave them with about $3.5M left in cap space and Lindgren and Kakko as RFA's needing deals. Lindgren might command $6M on his own.
It will be hard to move Marner and get a good return because of his cap hit. imo.

I did look at the projected cap & new they would only have about $3.5M left, but did not go into it further. You're right about Lindgren commanding quite a bit more.
Only thing I can think of is $2.5M retention on Marner & maybe including Goodrow's $3.65M in the deal, who is overpaid for a 4C.
Not sure if this would work for both sides.
Leafs would then have to try and offload Kampf.

Don’t think the Leafs see any value in a 4th in 2924.
LOL

I KNOW I KNOW far fingers!

First this is a stupid suggestion. Second Mitch has a no movement clause. and third why would they retain salary?

I would think Matthews returns game. 7. Marner just isn’t a scoring threat right now. If Matthews can play game 7 it does damage to the confidence of Boston.

@DM he's never a scoring threat. This isn't just playoffs either. He cannot play in tight checking games. All of his points come against teams that prefer to trade chances.

Posted above seeing if it's enough of a difference maker for both sides to warrant it.
