On your latest call-out to me, which was in response to me asking if you are staring at the Northern lights too much again looking for alien life when you proposed Robertson and a 1st for Dobson.

let's recap the points you make in a rebuttal and I will respond in kind.

You added a 3rd from the Leafs, thinking that closes the gap.
No, it doesn't close the gap, not even close. Dobson is A Big, 23-year-old RD playing 25 mins a night. He is a prime commodity.

You say so many teams are fighting for playoff spots and want top 6 forwards.
So, you are saying, no teams will have interest in Robertson?

You say Lou doesn't want a rebuild, he wants top 6 forwards that can score.
That may be true, so why would he trade for Robertson then. Robertson, by your own admittance, is playing as a 3rd line player, getting 4th line minutes and a player his coach does not trust. Tell me WM, what does Robertson create on his own? How often does Robertson drive play? He is typically the beneficiary of his linemates skill and hard work. At best, he could maybe compliment in a top 6 situation where the other players do all the work. That doesn't make him an actual top 6 forward though. He needs to improve alot to be a true top 6 forward. Nor does it make him anywhere close to worth trading Dobson for.

You say If Lou can get Robertson he would then improve his draft position so he can add more pieces near deadline.
What? For a draft position to improve, you would have to fall down the standings. If Lou is against a rebuild, why is he worried about draft position and why would he add at the deadline if the team sucks and is falling down the standings.

You think Lou may trade Dobson because he will be a headache to re-sign, so trade him now.
That wouldn't really be a very good philosophy because you would trade away every quality player that you ever drafted worried he may want too much money and therefore always be a bottom feeding team drafting great players you will never keep. I wish Edmonton felt that way and we may have McDavid right now for Robertson, a 1st and a 3rd just because they would feel Robertson would be way easier to re-sign and McDavid too much of a hassle.

You say you want to keep Robertson as he is part of a great 3rd line, but the Leafs need D. You again suggest Steeves replace Jarnkrok. If Steeves is so good, why not just replace Robertson with Steeves and trade Robertson. Surely Steeves can be the beneficiary of Domi and Jarnkroks work as well.

You say Gio is one of the D Keefe doesn't trust.
No he isn't and nothing suggest Keefe does not trust Gio.

RLF

This is not a great year for Keefe

He dresses 7 defencemen on Saturday blames Robertson for a goal. Look at tape of goal that tied game Saturday

Robertson couldn’t move put up ice a forward was on top of him

I just want keefe to roll the 3 lines

Robertson with ice time can be almost a point a game player

Lou needs that

The trade is Robertson who is top 6 player plus a first round pick and Lou I will give you your 3 rd back that you gave us for Engvall l

For

NYI. Dobson

To me it’s fair trade

Domi was doing squat til Robertson showed up

RLF just admit that.

@DM that isn't even close to fair. Top pairing D aren't traded for unproven prospects that are breaking into the bottom 6.

Weathermackin.

I have watched the goal again and Keefe was right on this. It was Robertson's poor decision that led to the goal. Robertson did not check behind him. There was no pressure behind him along the wall, only a Leaf coming back. Instead of just chipping it toward the blueline where he had support, he softly played it back to Brodie on his backhand against the back boards where Brodie now has pressure from Acciari in front of him and Neto (I believe) coming in behind him. If Brodie was a Righty, probably not a problem. Robertson needs to be aware of who and where he is giving the puck.

Now, Brodie should have put more on the pass, but if it is too hard and Robertson can't handle it, a turnover would happen in a bad area because more Pens were entering the zone to forecheck since Robertson played it back. As a winger, you don't throw the puck softly backwards to a D's backhand into the pressure in your own end. You move the puck forward whenever possible.

There is no way of knowing if Robertson will be a point a game player with more ice. More icetime means tougher competition. He is getting sheltered minutes and making use of them offensively. Good for him. I personally do not see a point per game top 6 player in Robertson.

Robertson has 5 points in 8 games. That's quite good. He is a -1 at even strength even though 60% of his starts are O-zone starts. On ice sv% with Robertson EV is 82.9%. In comparison, Domi is a +1 even strength while starting 57% of the time on the D zone. Domi's oiSV% 91%. 11 points. Jarnkrok is a +7 even strength while starting 57% of the time on the D zone. Jarnkrok's oiSV% 89.5%. 11 points.
What you can see is sheltered minutes for Robertson, but he is still the weak link on the line defensively and hasn't helped the line outproduce his defensive deficiencies.

I will say again. You are not getting Dobson or K. Miller or Dahlin or Samuelsson from Buffalo for instance for Robertson, a 1st and a 3rd. If any of those teams would do it, I'm all in.

As for Domi, is it Robertson, or the move to centre? Or is it Jarnkrok. Or is it just a combination of all. It is most likely a combination of all.

So if they sit Robertson and put Steeves or McMann in his place and the line plays well, will you admit it isn't all about Robertson?

If you want Dobson, a signed Nylander will need to be included.

David, it's clear you are a big Robertson fan, and I do like him too, but you need to accept that he will probably never be the big point producer that you think he will. He might be a 20 goal scorer in the future.

Just my opinion.
