Dubas has loaded up in Pittsburgh and if he doesn't make playoffs this year then what?

You can make a case that New York Islanders
have fallen back but Buffalo Ottawa Columbus and Detroit are all improved

Many teams have improved Crosby and Malkin both played 82 games last year. That doesn't happen this year plus Guentzel will not play til at least January.

This is bad scene for Dubas and that's the last job I would have wanted if I was him

Dubas should have spent his first rounder in 2024 plus a few other assets and went after Nylander. I would sooner pay Willy 10 mil x 7 years than 10 mil x 4 years to Karlsson.

I don't think Robertson makes the team. Best thing for him is to try and get a full season in the A and try to stay healthy. He has missed so much time that he needs to play a top 6 role and get quality offensive ice time. Imo.

I can not see any possible way Leafs finish ahead of NJ outside of serious injuries determining that outcome.
Similarly with their current defense Rangers are more than likely to finish ahead of Toronto as well.
Unless Leafs improve their defense I see them finishing 4th and possibly 5th (if Florida can weather their injuries) in the East this year.

Dubas actually took on more salary when he decided to retain on Petry.

@LL. as weird as trat is to say. I think the habs fid win did. I guess we might have to wait to see if sharks can turn any of the contract dumps into anything decent as far a picks or prospects. but how many times has the 3rd team involve in a trade come out looking like the winners.

@Loxley it's odd, isn't it? They got Petry, 2nd, ++ for just taking on contracts, that will expire in less time anyway.

If they eat another 50% of Petry's deal, they'll be able to flip him easily.
