If the Leafs want to go deep in playoffs and beat Florida and Tampa bay here are the changes they should consider.

Three way trade to start.

San Jose trades Evander Kane (50% of 3yr contract retained)
To
Arizona for 7th pick in 2022

Arizona retains 50% of Kane's contract and trade him to

Toronto for a 4th in 2023, 6th in 2024
Toronto gets Kane for 3yrs for $1.75 yr

Then Toronto trades Holl
To Ny Islanders for 3rd in 2022

Then Toronto trades Dermont and Engvall
to
Detroit for a 2nd and 4th in 2022

Then Toronto trades Nylander
To New Jersey
For
Michael McCloud, 1st and 2nd in 2022

Then Toronto trades their 1st in 2022, and Dusack
To
Montreal for Ben Chiarot

Then Toronto trades Llyigren and 4th
To
Buffalo for Colin Miller

Toronto second line is now

Kane Tavares McCloud

Defense now

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Chiarot
Sandin Miller

Cap out $12 million approx
Cap in $9.75 million approx

Still $2.25 cap space to add depth at deadline.

So Arizona is just essentially doing a 3 year favour for almost nothing?

No one pays anything beyond a 6th/ 7th for Holl right now.

Why would Yzerman want to pay for Dermott and Engvall?

All of these trades are very one sided.

Stay away from Kane trust me

Holl not worth a 3rd right now. Maybe a 5tj
Dermott and Engvall not worth 2nd and 4th. Maybe a 3rd and 5th

Nylander at this moment in time with his contract value and his offensive output you can probably get more than the offer but very good base for this trade. Go for extra 1st right now. Even if u lose the 2nd. I’d only take 2 1sts due to thst contract

Chariot will get a 1st. I’m not a fan but it’s his going is that pick. Duszak might not be needed. Maybe a lesser prospect

Miller deal is about right

Overall if u stay away from Kane and gain a 3rd and 2 5ths in the minor deals I’m all for it

If u get Macleod, 2 1sts it definetly off sets the 1st u lose for chariot.

That defence is definetly a huge upgrade and gaining all those picks helps as leafs have 3 to speak if this year. Nothing from 3-6

So no Kane and a few teeeks and u got something here.
