Leafs need a top 6 winger and some depth on D, dubas seems to like to get deals done with more then one player.
assuming muzzin doesn't come back
Leafs do a deal with vancouver
Leafs receive; D Luke Schenn, F Conor Garland (50% retained)
Vancouver receives; 1st round pick, 3rd round pick, F Roni Hirvonen, 6th round pick

Very unlikely the canucks retain half of that contract from 5 years.

There are a many different deals out there to get a better return for a 1st round pick, a 3rd round pick, a 6th round pick and Roni Hirvonen than for a 3rd pairing, UFA defenseman and a 3rd line, hugely overpaid Connor Garland.
I doubt very much that the Canucks who are looking to jettison salary are going to take back 50% of Garland’s $4.9 million dollar salary for the next 3 years, for an overpaid, 3rd line player.
Garland is a right wing and Leafs already have Marner, Nylander and Jarnkrok on right wing making Garland redundant.
Leafs need a left winger to play with Tavares & Nylander.
Something that Garland is not!
