Do you actually think the goalies are the leaf's problem. Woll was great in his last start. Samsonov wasn't very good in his two first starts. But his last game he only gave up two and when a goalie gives up two 99% of the time they would win

The problems are Treliving signings. His last 3 full seasons Bertuzzi and now he is hurt again. He won't play anymore on this trip I'm pretty sure.

Max Domi I don't know what role the Toronto maple leafs had for him, I think it was a playmaker.

Now Marner is a playmaker maybe the best one in the NHL. So we know what a playmaker looks like and Max is not a playmaker or anything else the first 4 games. Domi has been invisible.

He looks a lot like Nick Ritchie did the 33 games he was with Toronto invisible has the look of no effort. I can assure you Domi won't last 33 games if this is all he is. Now that Bertuzzi is out it's more pressure on Domi to produce let's watch tonight.

Klingberg just really bad defence from him and if you pressure him at the opposing blue line on a power play he will give up the puck. So he has one big plus a booming shot from the blue line. But when a player gives you 20% positive and 80% negative it can't work

Reeves is ok we know his role and he fills it. We can probably live with Klingberg this season just put him third pairing and power play but what we can't live with is Max Domi as a complete no show. Max may have 10 more games to show value or he is the one you must trade.

All 4 signings suck. Reaves watched Nylander get filled in from behind against FLA and did absolutely nothing about it. Domi and Bertuzzi have done zero. 4.1 million for a PP specialist D is a waste considering their PP was second in the league last year . That money could have secured Bunting, kerfoot and Dumba.

We can't bail on Bertuzzi yet he did have great series for Boston in the playoffs. Is Reaves a waste oh $1.3 million or whatever he earns? Yes he is but that doesn't hurt very much it's just a little scratch.

But Domi if you trade him you get his $3 million in cap space but it will cost you assets plus Domi to get a decent defenceman

So just signing a UFA d-man last summer was a better way

Bertuzzi is out so rather than just bring Holmberg up they were better off to grab Robertson as well.

If leave win tonight and Domi doesn't show up leaf fans are not giving Domi a free pass either.

@David. Domi had 13 points in 19 games last playoffs for Dallas. I'd say that is very good. If it is all about not bailing because they had a good playoff, Domi should stay.

? Explain how JT deserves to have C removed. Captaincy isn’t just about points. John is a leader on and off the ice and rarely takes any shifts off. Which is why Willy does well on that line. JT and Bert do all the work and lil Willy doesn’t have to go into the scary corners ? piss half your team off by ripping the C off the guy who deserves it.

I agree more with Clarky. The Leafs don't really have a high end player that gets angry and takes over or leads in the kind of way we normally think of as a leader. So, leave it with JT. He may be gone after one more season, so why change now and possibly disrupt the room.

Does anyone really believe if they made a captaincy change that it would make that much of a difference? Would Willy all of a sudden play more physical and be better defensively? Would Marner completely stop whining to the refs and just play hockey? Would Samsonov re-discover his form? etc etc. I know I don't think it would change much if anything. But hey, just my opinion.

How is he still a point per game guy than all these years. Even still at his age. Guys have bad nights, no one is perfect. But his bad nights aren’t for lack of effort. Plus the whole team comments on how this guy trains and how well he takes care of himself. He takes a lot of the young rookies in his own house (Knies, Minten) to live. Our future is learning first hand what it takes to be an NHL player. Crazy to that this guys battle goes unnoticed. First one in the corner, never shy’s away. Takes countless cross checks while standing in front of the net. Top faceoff guy again for who knows how many years. I really think this guy would take a team friendly contract when his expires because he wants to win in Toronto and retire here. Sorry but seen a few people going in about his leadership and I didn’t know why. We have issues with lack of heart in our top 9 (Nylander, Marner, Robertson, Domi (some games), issues on D for sure. Goaltending obviously is a problem but I don’t get all the JT shouldn’t be captain talk.

@Clarky I don't think it's particularly an issue either. Who gets a C on sweater doesn't change much imo. It's not like Gio sits in the dressing room smoking cigars ignoring everyone because he doesn't have a letter.

Mihkeyev is fast but no shooting acuracy
Holl is good but slow

Marner is good but he's to soft and scared to shoot

If your going to pick a hole in everyone's game then you going to be left with nothing.

Mikheyev does have stone hands but he does everything else right especially for what he gets paid.

Rielly (I thought) played well. He wasn't dominant but he was a solid player all series.

Holly is too slow? Holly was consistently the best defenceman all year along with Brodie.

Brodie is ok? The guy was a monster. What complaints can you possibly have about him at 5/ 5?

Marner isn't scared to shoot. He registered a tonne of shots. He just couldn't hit a net if it was 50 feet tall once the playoffs start.

Freddy is gone anyway. No reason to talk about that.

Nylander was not soft during that series. He played well, he scored, he may not have hit but he was grinding. Nothing against him at all.

Jumbo is a 4th liner. Nothing more at his age. He is what he is.
