Except the fact that Necas is definitely way worse than Nylander and the only way he goes is for a top 4 RD. Everyone is undervaluing Nylander based on his “soft” play but in reality he has the best contract on the team and is still just entering his prime.

I would say Bunting is the best contract on the team. Brodie is excellent value as well. There are quite a few players around the League that are right up there with Willy and make less.
"Nylander is on a great contract" is one of the biggest fallacies in Leafland.

Just wondering if Sandin, plus 2023 2nd (Ariz) for Kakko would make sense? I haven't really heard much on contract talks between Rangers and Kakko plus they need a LD.

@Tagz. I am not sure NYR "need" LD's. They have Hajek, Robertson and Jones as young D's. Sandin would also be fighting for 3rd pair D there which seems to be his issue in T. O. Not sure the Rangers are ready to move on from a 21 year old former 2nd overall pick yet.
I think they will be looking for a cheap vet LD to fill out the D, but I am obviously just speculating.

@marnerforlife. That is the first time I think I have read someone suggest that Matthews WANTS to go where Nylander goes. I'm not sure Matthews would even be very happy if Nylander was on his line, nevermind signing with a team just because Willy is there.

@Alberta. Do you realize Nylander ranks 60th amongst RW's in cost per point. That doesn't count the players that are listed as C/ W because they fall under the centre category even if they play RW most of the time. How is 60th for RW a great contract or even best on the team?
This is a Leafs media driven narrative that somehow many have bought into.

@LL. I would buy that narrative if Nylanders comparables had faltered. Last I looked, Teraveinen, Ellers, Forsberg, Pasta, Fiala etc, have all been quite good or even better for less money.
