Well Idek what to say at this point. With the signing of Thornton these will be the forwards playing for an nhl spot next year.
Hyman, Matthews, Nylander, mikheyev, Tavares, Marner, Roberson, Kerfoot, Engvall, Simmonds, Spezza, Thornton, Veesy, Barbanov, Boyd, korkoshov, Anderson, Brooks that's 18 forwards competing for 12 spots. Now the top 6 will consist of

Hyman Matthews Nylander
Mikheyev Tavares Marner

Kerfoot will be the third line center and I can see Roberson and engvall on his wings. I can see Spezza somewhere on the fourth line and prob Thornton. This leaves 1 spot open for Simmonds who I also assume plays

So my lineup next year.

We can now trade dermott and engvall for a guy like Weegar and our defence would look like this.

Engvall buried $175 K (1,250-700+350) might tenin there regardless if he is in organization or not. Just the formula for buried salaries is what I can find

Players cap hit-minimum season salary+350K

Burying min salary is a $350 cap hit
1.050 million salary is only salary that cost 0 buried

I hope engvall buried contest doesn’t affect next year. According to cap friendly $125 K does as the formula next year goes up to min salary+ $400K . Weird stuff

If it counts against them no matter what bet to deal him. Poor guy it was only contract best for butting that is waiver exempt. I’d be pissed. 6 foot 5 and most fit player blah.

I don’t know what Dubas is thinking with all these signings. Are any of these guys game breakers? No. A few of them will be waived and buried for sure.

Instead of signing all these guys, why not just go for a big name for the back end and fix the defense properly. As much as I think Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin absolutely are very good players, two of them are on the wrong side of 30. Their best days are behind them. Leafs are playing on limited time. And Holl, while a good player, is not someone I would call a true top four defenseman.

We are missing a key piece there still. If Holl could leverage his god given gifts and actually hit and play physical, I would be more convinced. Right now, he is an imposter. He only looks good because Muzzin makes him look better than he really is. We need someone that can stand alone in that 2RHD spot and have a symbiotic relationship with Muzzin, not a parasitic one.

Why can’t Lilly just play to his hype

Muzz Lilly one rushes passes the other hits and shoots. Give that combo a 5 game tryout. Having Muzzin their might give Lilly the confidence to be the Karlsson he was hyped to be pre season 2016-17 draft predictions. Wow what a crappy draft for 20 1st round bust so far.
