To MIN: F - W. Nylander + 2020 4th (VGN)

To TOR: F - J. Greenway + F - A. Beckman + 2020 1st (9th)

Draft

9 - RW - J. Quinn
15 - RD - B. Schneider

Sign D - A. Pietrangelo to a 7 year $65M ($9.45M AAV)

It hurts to lose Nylander, but after scoring 31 goals he's worth a big package. Ideally, Quinn is able to step right in this year or next to backfill for Nylander.

Hyman Matthews Marner
Greenway Tavares Quinn
Robertson Kerfoot Mikheyev
Margin Spezza Rodrigues

Rielly Pietrangelo
Muzzin Holl
Dermott Lehtonen

Obviously, this also goes on the assumption the Leafs trade Johnsson and Rodrigues accepts a lower offer

A big question mark is what can you get Mikheyev and Dermott for

I love the trades. Hate the thought of signing Pietrangelo. You seem to have forgotten about Barabanov too. Lol. That’s forgivable. Less forgiveable is that it also seems like you forgot Sandin. Tsk.

Suggesting Quinn over Askarov is the biggest surprise though. Which brings me to my next point: now that Minnesota has moved on from Dubnyk, their intention might be to go all in on Askarov. Nylander for Greenway and the pick might be worth it in value, but does Nylander fit their needs? A soft one-dimensional player that plays all offense and no defense is the antithesis of their method of operation. I’m not sure they would do this deal unless Andersen was somehow included.

I would rather draft Seth Jarvis than Quinn.
Jarvis can play both center and right wing and has been compared to Braydon Point.
Schneider likely has the ceiling of a 3rd pairing defenseman.
I would prefer Wallinder or Helge Grans as none of them will be ready to play on the Leafs for likely 3 years and Wallinder and Grans have higher upside.

That would be a big haul for Nylander. I'd do it.
I am not big on going after Piet. It is not the player, it is the cap hit we can't afford. imo.
