Leafs trade Dermott, Bracco
Montreal trades Caufield, Primeau

Caufield doesn't want to play for Montreal. So we give them the top 4 LHD they need, and in return acquire another A-prospect that is known for his goal scoring, and a highly rated goalie prospect that could be a possible replacement for Andetsen.

First off how do you know Caufield doesn’t want to play for the habs? Secondly he’s a type of player I think we have too many off (small skilled forward) also I think it’s a bit much to say in two years primeau will be an nhl starter but I guess guys like binnington and jarry would have something to say about that.

Bracco is damaged goods. 4 goals and left for personal reasons. Has zero value and a third line Dman on a crap leafs defense lol.

@Leafs1994

It's all over the news. Montrealreleased a statement.
They announcedd he isn't signing with them and is going back to play college next year. If he holds out long enough, he will be free agent or re-enter the draft. Montreal will trade him before then though.

Dermott was playing top line for the last few months DeadHeadWing. He's a top 4 defenseman and still has upside. You should get your facts straight before commenting. I like how dumb it makes you sound, but it is spreading inaccurate information. False news. You probably think this coronavirus was a government conspiracy to control population.

@leafsgm he’s decided to go back to Wisconsin probably because he knows he doesn’t have a shot at making the nhl.

Caufield is a very highly rated prospect. I don't think it's because he has no shot at making the NHL. He just doesn't want to play for Montreal. Lol.

Just read an article about it and bergiven recommended him to go back to the NCAA for one more year.

Is that what Bergevin is saying now? Lol. The article I read said Caufield refuses to play for them.
We obviously will never know the truth, but it seems odd that Caufield didn't sign an elc with them. A kid like that should be locked up asap.

But this does bring up something worthy of discussion. What are your thoughts on these kids getting drafted and then refusing to play for the team that drafted them? I mean in general, not just Caufield.

I mean it doesn’t happen a lot but it’s becoming more of a thing now I give a kid credit takes some big ones to do something like that but the real issue is now what how does a team compensate for that because they can’t just trade that prospect because they will never get full value for them in the case of Caufield makes no sense for him Montreal all is a young team with a lot of good prospects his chance in the nhl couldn’t be better unless you’re playing for teams like Ottawa or Detroit.

I don't understand why any of these kids would turn down the opportunity to play in the NHL. That's what the dream is. And so what if you don't think the team that drafted you is optimal. You show them what you can do no matter how bad the rest of the team is. Connor McDavid puts up 100 points on Edmonton, who imo has less better prospects than Montreal of becoming Cup winners, despite having the world's two best forwards on the team. Montreal has a lot of promise and someone like Caufield should be excited about the prospect of going to play there and becoming a big part of that teams future success, not turned off by the fact that they are a rebuilding team.
