TVA Sports Jean-Charles Lajoie writes that the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs could build a trade with Max Domi and Kasperi Kapanen as the centerpieces. Lajoie believes the decline in Max Domi’s production in his contract year could get the winger shipped out of town while other teams still feel he’s got something to offer.
The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, are looking for some team toughness to go with skill and Domi could be a nice compliment to some of their already skilled forwards. Lajoie also believes Kapanen could flourish in Montreal building chemistry with fellow Finns Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Joel Armia.

It’s a bad trade for the leafs they would need something to fall back on if domi doesn’t resign.

The Leafs are not in a cap position to acquire players where the next contract is a big question mark. That is why Dubas is looking for RHD with term and the two best that keep appearing are Dumba and Manson

Both are on poor performing teams and have term left.

The thing I like about Domi is that he can play center as well as wing. So we could move Kerfoot to wing and have Domi as centre. Kapanen is the most tradeable player we have, but I expect if we trade him it will be for a defenseman, not another forward.

I love how you completely neglected to copy and paste the rest of that article by Lavoie that as the Leafs are looking to acquire a RHD that this trade would more than likely not happen.

Not to mention the fact Leafs don't need another son to be RFA player looking for at least 5.5 to 6.5 million for 3 or 4 years on a bridge deal. more if he wants a long term contract. Leafs need defense. should try to acquire Manson and/ or Dumba.
