All three UFAs are moved for some assets that can help now, mostly on the defensive side of the ice. An area the Leafs desperately need help. Drop some prospects but the Leafs have many, they’ll survive. I’m sure Bracco or Nielsen will have to be involved somewhere so it’s not jus spare parts and rentals but, Jvr would sign in Minny, Ducks need help at C but Vatanen warrants more than Bozak, and I dunno Arizona sucks so prospects with a character player for Goligoski.

The goligoski trade is brutal; Borgman will continue to improve/ he doesn't speak the language all that well and it's his first season in the nhl/ learning a new system for a very animated coach. the leafs are not in desperation mode, they have plenty of time to build a contender. that return for jvr doesn't really make sense to me foligno isn't the player I'd target especially if you have him player the right side, aaltonen isn't a third line centre in the nhl, and korshkov has a bright future and is one of the leafs only wingers with size and speed other than marchment who hasn't proven anything at the pro level yet. Bozak nets you matta, leivo nets you a second and a good prospect+.

Bozak doesn’t net Matta and Leivo doesn’t net a 2nd and a prospect. But fair points on the other two, I like Borgs but a year in the AHL wouldn’t hurt him, he has games where he’s the best D and games where he looks like a fish out of water. My JVR proposal was mostly the young D and two 2nd rd picks. Foligno was jus so the cap evens out. Belpedio is a good RHD playing in NCAA and if Minnesota doesn’t sign him he’s going to be talked about quite a bit for the upcoming free agency. He’s 6’ and 200 lbs and has an offensive side, although his defensive side needs work, still a nice prospect to have.

Starlord

A bench warmer who hasn't played a full nhl season is not worth a 2nd and a prospect.

That what Toronto was asking for, we will see what happens leading up until Christmas.

He is an everyday nhl player on pretty much every other nhl team, if he is given the chance to gets some serious game time you'll want to keep him (leivo) I'd say bracco for belpido plus a 2018 3rd given that he is an NCAA player and can choose where he wants to sign even after the deal, would work better.

Jvr at 50 ( leafs resign JVR in offseason) and carrick for vatanen

Bracco to wild
Belpido 2018 3rd

Bozak to Edmonton @ 50 rychel, soshnikov, 20183rd wild

Strome, jones (Caleb), berglund.

You say that he is an nhler on every other team, yet he plays for the leafs and has his whole career thus far. So how is it justified that he’s a regular on any other team without playing on another team? Also, Toronto asks for a second to get a decent return, knowingly not getting a second. Did the Avs get what they asked for in the Duchene deal, a first rounder, roster d and an A+ prospect? No, they didn’t but they still got a hell of package. Yes you can make an argument for Girard but please don’t.

Bottom line, teams aren’t giving a 2nd rounder for a guy who is sitting in a press box most nights. He’s talented and deserves to play, no ones arguing that. But no team is giving up a 2nd rd pick for Leivo.
