All deals have to result with the player being protected for the draft. Who do you want to give up? Reilly, Gardiner, Zaitsev, a couple more forwards? Or it can be for an exceptional defender and losing one of these 3 won't matter.

We are set perfectly, the way we are to ride out 1 year, and gain cap space, lose nothing to the expansion draft, and develop and evaluate all our young players for 1 year.

I like Stone, but not until next July.

Zaitsev is auto protected, they don't need to protect them. They are going to protect Gardiner, Rielly and I figure Connor Carrick.

You're right. My bad. I forgot the 7 yrs. in the KHL doesn't count a s pro-hockey. Amazing exemption. Thanks for the correction.

Still I wouldn't even want to lose Carrick given his play last year and especially the AHL playoff performance.

Unless it's a stellar Dman you can give up Carrick for; all deals for Dmen can wait 1 year.
