1. Sign Stamkos(or Backes).

-Stamkos.

-Backes would be a great backup plan after Stamkos, he would no doubt want to play with Matthews but at 30yrs+ will he want to play on a team not contending?

2. Trade Bernier to Calgary.

-Trade for the 6th overall pick.

-would require other assets to be added from TML(Bozak+ 2nd round pick+ prospect?)

3. Aquire F.Anderson and S.Vatanen from the ducks.

- 6th overall + pits 1st + Kapanen + S.Percy
(Not bad for a starting goalie/1-2 dman)

4. Sign R.Polak.

-reliable, likes Toronto, can play 4-5 spot and look after the young guns abit.

5. Convince Dan Boyle to sign for 1 year.

- experience is what TML need, he's got a lot of it.

-mentor for the young dmen, still showed he can play as 5-6 on a contender and powerplay if needed.

-trade him to a contender at deadline.
(easy 3rd round pick or better if he plays well)

So, basically, you want to trade Bernier, Bozak, Pitts 1st, our 2nd, Kapanen, Pery and another B prospect for Andersen and Vatanen?

overpayment to the Ducks for both. Vatanen could be had for two second rounders and a couple of prospects. As the expansion draft gets closer these two players will get cheaper. The Ducks will lose a goalie and a young defender. Polak/Boyle aren't comin; we have one spot to be fought over at training camp.

Is Bernier the guy Calgary wants? Not sure but the price for that 6th pick will be steep.

Good ideas though.

So your saying trade bernier for 6th overall ov the season he had I don't think so I basicly don't think leafs should trade bernier no wonder how good he will be next season
