Based on the return for Reimer the goalie market is really low right now. Why bother? Keep him for another year and ship him next year. Gives Sparks a chance to play next year.

even up, bernier for hillier at least hillier might be able to stop simple dump ins. in this day and age your goaltender has to be able to play the puck, or at least a simple set up for your defense.

Jonathan Bernier can play the puck. He's not as bad as everyone thinks. My belief is that he's taking an off year so the leafs can be bad. i'm predicting he will have a bounce back year in 2016-17. Its a contract year and he will be 28. Is the future as a leaf goaltender? No, but he's better that what he's doing currently for the Maple Leafs

Junior Are you saying Bernier has been this trying to be this awful? In that case he deserves a big bonus. I usually agree with what you write but not at all today

Appreciate the kind words. The feeling on bernier and him as an NHL goal is solid throughout the league. When he was with LA he was considered one of the best technical goalies in terms of his structure. i'm a goalie myself and I can see it with bernier. Not saying I know everything about goaltending but his game looks half ass and diminished. The guys young, newly married, new father, making millions. I can't see anyone, goalie or skater, having a bad year like he is and its all because of nothing. i'm going to be bold and say he's slacking because he was asked to. There's the first notion of the leafs tanking on purpose. Its a shady move but hey we might get our first 1st overall pick since 85 with Wendel. If he's on the leafs roster come october 2016, he will have a bounce back year worthy of his $4m+ contract which will expire at the end of next season, so even more motivation.
