Toronto needs a legit 2C next season, Adam Fantilli is the guy. Lock him up with a 7-year deal at $8.5M AAV.
Hit Mario Ferraro with an offer 5 years, $6.3M AAV. Move Rielly before the season start, Ferraro slides right in to replace him on the back end.
Carlo could step in as Ben Danford's replacement next year. Bye bye Carlo.
Leafs were one of the slowest teams in the NHL this season, bottom of the league in skating speed.
If we could flip Matthews for a 1st-round pick + an A-prospect (Cayden Lindstrom maybe? ), I'd do it in a second.
Auston isn't a true leader, and Lindstrom would give us a more direct, physical, faster 1C.
Toronto's got good cap space this summer, plenty of room to sign at least one big-ticket contract (Fantilli) .
Also, since Nick Robertson just doesn't really fit in Toronto anymore, M Marchment would be a solid replacement. Something like a 3-year deal at 4,5M-$5M AAV would be perfect for him.

Easily said Thisisit but who are you trading to get Fantilli, who I really like btw.
And where are you sending Robertson and Rielly, what’s your trade details?
I also feel you’re selling far short on Matthews; he’s an elite NHL player and you’re getting back an unproven A prospect and an unknown draft pick!
I like Marchment but not at $5m.

@Randy Sears. I think Thisisit in under the assumption that Fantilli can be signed like a UFA. Perhaps he doesn't understand that RFAs that accept an offer sheet from a team and sign with them, that team needs to give up compensation in draft picks according to the salary of the contract. Toronto is out of luck in that regard as they don't meet the criteria for compensation required. Not to mention... If Fantilli actually was a UFA he would be going for big big dollars.
He is on a heater of late. And I think Marchment will sign back with Columbus. He and Fantilli have become a great fit. Marchment 19 points in the 20 games since he Joined Columbus with Fantillli and Fantillin 18 points in the same 20 games. Marchment is earning $4.5 now and if he keeps that same chemistry through the rest of the season. He will get probably $6. $6.5.

That’s a steep price; I’d have trouble paying it.
Let’s rewind the clock and pass on the Malgin deal.

I know it is a steep price but in this market it's about right. Like I said the other day. Sherwood just got $5.5.

And a one year older, smaller, slower and lower goal scorer than McMann gets a 2nd in 26 and 27 plus a player and we get a 2nd and 4th!
Everybody loves the Leafs!

We would have got more for sure if Treliving had not sat on his heels on doing the McMann deal.

“Carlo could step in as Ben Danford's replacement next year. Bye bye Carlo.“??
What does that even mean…
Matthews for a 1st, a prospect, you are kidding, no matter what you think about Matthews, he will fetch more than that.
Your not getting Fantilli
Ferraro possible
Morgan to SJ; they want him, Vancouver possibly. No buyout, retention maybe $1 million. Bad contract back

Thisisit corrected that error in his post!
But you’re right on the rest.
