This is my dream offseason and I'm just thinking of this because of the Kadri/Trouba rumours. I personally don't think peg will do it but only time will tell.

Leafs currently have 8.79 million in cap space to sign Marner,Kappanen And Johnsson

1st Trade leafs trade

Nazim Kadri

For

Jacob Trouba

Again this isn't my deal I'm just speaking out the rumours I'll believe it when I see it. This brings the leafs cap space to 13.29 million

2nd Trade

Toronto- Patrick Marleau And 2nd round 2019

Arizona- Future Considerations

Arizona can absorb his cap hit easily and he would help out on the 3rd line he's still a good player they get a 2nd round pick for compensation. Leafs cap space would now be 19.54 million.
3rd Trade
Toronto: Kasperi Kappanen ( RFA )And Nathen Horton ( 1 year 5.3 million LTIR cap dosent count in regular season only offseason)

Colorado- Alex Kerfoot ( RFA )

Colorado has tons of cap space and Horton actually helps reach the floor. Kasperi Kappanen is a young Speedy winger who can play on the 2nd line. Kerfoot Replaces Kadri as the 3rd line C.

4th Trade

Toronto: Nikita Zaitsev And 1st round pick 2020

LA- 5th round pick 2020

Toronto unloads Zaitsevs contract LA can take it because they are not competitive and they get a 1st round pick for their rebuild.
5th Trade
Toronto: Connor Brown

Edmonton: Matt Benning

Leafs get a RHD to fill in on the bottom pairing and Edmonton gets a versatile winger who can play up and down the lineup who is is friends with McDavid.

This leaves the leafs with 29.44million in cap space to resign Trouba,Marner, Kerfoot And Johnsson. The cap space will inflate so it'll probably move up closer to 31Million.

Leafs sign
Marner 8 years 11 million
Trouba 8 years 8.44 million
Kerfoot 3 years 4 million
Johnsson 5 years 4 million

This gives the leafs 1 million in cap space + whatever the cap rises by.

1st line: Johnsson-Mathews-Nylander
2nd line: Hyman-Tavares-Marner
3rd line: Moore-Kerfoot-Bracco
4th line: Petan-Gauthier-Mikhyev/Korshkov

1st pairing: Rielly-Trouba
2nd pairing: Muzzin-Lilijgren
3rd Pairing: Dermotte-Benning

What do you guys think defence looks a lot better 3rd line is good Bracco has very high potential after his star AHL performance I'm confident he can make the jump and Moore deserves to be their after his recent performance this year in the NHL. Next season let Muzzin walk and call up Sandin.

As discussed on the NHL Rumours page, I understand this is an ultimate fantasy for Leaf fans. The Trouba trade just has very little chance of happening.

I see these Horton trade proposals a lot. Always with the tagline that it helps the other team reach the cap floor. It’s been pointed out by so many people other than just me that it makes zero sense for the other team to do this. Why would they pay a guy over $5M who isn’t going to ever play a single game? To hit the cap floor? Why not just sign Eberle for the same price? Makes way more sense. That money can be used so much better than to take on Horton’s contract. Any GM taking on Horton’s contract just to hit the floor would be fired. It makes zero sense. There is less than zero chance that Sakic, or anyone else in the league, makes this trade. Kapanen isn’t much better than Kerfoot, if at all, and Kerfoot is a center. Colorado is looking for secondary scoring, so would love Kapanen, but won’t be trading Kerfoot for him. Maybe if it was Nylander you were offering up they would take Horton’s contract. Anyway, Horton is permanent LTIR and his salary never counts against the cap, so there is absolutely no need for Leafs to trade him. That’s why you never ever read a single article or hear a single analyst ever say we need to trade him. Because we don’t. And no team would ever take him on.

3.) 10 Jun 2019 16:26:57
1st trade Winnipeg says no. I'm guessing if it was 1-for-1 the trade would've already happened.

4.) 10 Jun 2019 16:29:48
2nd trade is good

3rd trade is unlikely since if Kapanen is traded it will likely be for a RHD.

4th trade is bad, you don't have to give up a 1st to get rid of Zaitsev. You just need a b-level prospect.

I would like to see Brown bring back just picks and no salary.

Toronto: Patrick Marleau, Nikita Zaitsev And Kasperi Kappanen

LA: Ilya Kovlachuk, Dion Phaneuf ( 1.25 million retained) and 2nd round 2019

*Phaneufs cap hit would then be 4 million.

Toronto- The leafs PP was pretty weak this season and Kovy would help out as the LW on the top PP if Mathews is put on his 1 T side. Phaneuf on the bottom pairing would be effective. But the leafs get around 2 million in cap space from the trade. With the 10 million cap space+ Horton on LTIR they have 15 million in cap space. Not to mention a potential cap increase they will surely have enough to sign Marner and Johnsson.

LA: The kings lose two bad contracts and replace them with two more but Kovy really was not fitting in and Marleau provides leadership. Kappanen is the big reason why they do this. Kappanen is a speedy winger with potential in which the King severely lack. Zaitsev Is still a good dman and can help out the 2nd pairing.

Leafs lines.

Kovlachuk-Mathews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Bracco
Moore-Gauthier-Brown

Rielly-Hanisey
Muzzin-Lilijgren
Dermotte-Phaneuf

Andersen
Sparks

Pretty sure with ottawa retaining on dion that only 1 team can retain on a player under the cba.

2.) 03 Jun 2019 00:24:01
Please no. Just please, no. I’d rather keep Marleau and Zaitsev than bring in either Kovalchuk or the Pylon. LA couldn’t retain enough salary to make this trade happen.

Leafs- Jesse Puljujarvi

Edmonton- Andreas Johnsson

A change of scenery could benefit Puljujarvi. Leafs get a cheaper player. Edmonton gets a proven player who can play anywhere in the lineup and still has room to grow.

vbbbvvbb

1.) 02 May 2019 17:22:32
Sounds good except the fact Puljujarvi sucks the bag. Edmonton can’t afford Johnsson either unless they dump salary too.

2.) 02 May 2019 18:40:09
Puljujarvi I would take for Brown and a pick. Nothing more. He is still unproven and probably will continue like that thanks to the Oilers mismanagement.

Carolina is looking to trade fox as he confirmed he will not sign there. Obviously he carry's extremely little value because he is essentially a UFA and controls where he'll sign fully.

Toronto- Adam Fox

Carolina- 2nd round pick 2019

Fox would get the opportunity to be a top 4 dman on Toronto and could opt to sign there instead of playing his final year at Harvard

vbbbvvbb

1.) 02 Apr 2019 00:37:47
If he has little value why would you give up this years 2nd when we already don’t have a 1st.

2.) 02 Apr 2019 01:12:47
I don’t blame him for not signing in Carolina either when there are so many other’s ahead of him in the depth lineup. Love how you say he’s not worth much, then offer up a 2nd round pick for him. Especially ironic seeing as he was drafted in the third round. He hasn’t even played a single nhl game yet and expect he will trade for higher than established nhl defensemen have traded for lately. I’m not sure about that. His ncaa stats are good. No denying he has a lot of potential. I’m not sure a 2nd round pick for another prospect player is worth it when we already have so many good ones in the system already. Rather just keep the pick. If we trade for a defenseman, would hope it’s an established player that can co tribute immediately in a significant capacity.

I'll bite on Nylander/Tanev but I'd make a 1st manditory as IMO Tanev isn't a good enough base.

Leafs: William Nylander and 2nd 2019

Canucks: Tanev and Top 5 protected 1st 2019 ( continues until pick is outside of top 5 )

Leafs get a potentially early pick and the deffensman they need. Vancouver gets a potential franchise altering player who could challenge for a scoring tital in the future.

Boeser-Petterson-Nylander

This could challenge

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
Or
Benn-Seguin-Radulov

I would not make a trade with Vancouver unless Demko,Hughes or 1st 2019 was in the deal.

vbbbvvbb

1.) 10 Oct 2018 13:52:44
umm noooooooo, Tanev is garbage, injury prone, I dough the leafs go after him.

2.) 11 Oct 2018 00:42:10
You must be kidding!

Polak resigns with Leafs. Pretty good signing he will be a mentor for the young guys and bring a physical presence on the blue line it's a 1 year deal so it can't be a bad signing. They may be able to acquire a pick at the deadline. All in all I'm just glad they didn't go out and sign Kris Russel to a ridiculous contract.

Apperently the Maple Leafs have Expressed interest in Gabriel Landeskog. I can't see a deal being made but I can see the Leafs making a strong pitch sense he would bring a new elament to there team.

Do you guys see a deal being made? I'd think that Colorado would ask for Rielly but I believe management would not touch that.

What do you guys think it would take for the Leafs to Acquire Valiri Nichuskinin from Dalas? They need a young power forward like him.

vbbbvvbb

1.) 04 Jun 2016 20:50:41
29 pts - 3rd year NHL; where's the power.

Maybe Hyman. Nothing more.

2.) 04 Jun 2016 23:15:52
Toronto would have to take a bad contract back as Dallas is up against the cap. then Toronto would have to give Dallas Leo Komarov(cheaper than 3 million vet) and probably a prospect like that Sarnia Belarussian and a 3rd round pick. but who knows really. not me

25 Apr 2016 01:43:02
I'm just curious on what you guys think of this.
In 2018 the leafs rebuild will be over. Most likely.

I know this is extremely ridiculous but in 2018 McJesus will be an RFA. I think hey may not be eleagble for an offer sheet tho. But if he is.

the leafs will be able to sign him to an 8 year 15 mil contract and surrender 4 1st round picks as comprehension. I highly doubt EDM will have the cap to match that 120 mil contract.

I read an article about this so its not my idea but would it be worth it?

vbbbvvbb

1.) 25 Apr 2016 06:30:02
This "McJesus" guy you're speaking so highly of hasn't even played an NHL playoff game, let alone an entire NHL season. Yet you're going to pay him 15 Mil a year ANDDDD surrender 4 FIRST round picks.

you got to chill.

Reread your stuff before you post man.

2.) 29 Apr 2016 01:17:13
Personally I would wait for 2017. Offer sheet Ekblad at 7.2 mil. Fla will have a cap problem and an attendance problem to afford him. He's a stud on D.

What do guys think it would cost for the leafs to get Matt Murray

Komarov?
