Minnisota didn't hire Fenton from Nashville to come in and destroy their team.
Anyone who thinks Dumba will sign for $4 million a year has not been following the cost of players the past few years and the increase in salary cap of $4.5 million this year.

No way Winnepeg accepts that deal, throw in the first round pick there and a few assets and maybe they consider it
Are you crazy, Ottawa would never accept that trade, and I don't know hwy the leafs woul even want Bobby Ryan
Why do you think Ottawa has David Clarkson, doesn't vegas have his contract?
The only thing that makes sense here is signing Riley Nash.

You take on Bobby Ryan’s contract in order to get Duchene and yes I know Clarkson was a Knight. They would rather pay someone to play rather than on the IR, Toronto can pay him to go away.

Gardner for Trouba is a trade the Jets never even consider.
Try Myers for Gardner and maybe Jets look at their need at LHD and say yes.

Stastny will want more than 4 years and more than $5 million a year. Both are too much.
Trading Nylander for Ristolainin would be one of the biggest mistakes Leafs have made since the John Ferusen era.
Ristolainin is not a good defenseman while Nylander is a proven 1st line, right wing.

-Toronto trades Nylander(Blues are thin up the middle) to St Louis for Parayko
-Toronto trades Martin and the rights to JVR to NY Islanders for a 2018 5th round pick(3rd if JVR signs)
- Toronto trades rights to Bozak, Zaitsev to Vancouver for Tanev
-Toronto trades Bracco and 2018 1st to Columbus for Jenner
-Toronto signs Big Joe Thornton(3 mil plus bonus) and Reily Nash(2.5-3 mil)

Shoring up your defense definitely doesn’t mean trading your second best (arguably best) defenseman.
Paired with a player like Tanev, Gardiner would thrive. He has a very specific set of a skills. Playing defence isn’t one of them. Tanev is one of the most sound dmen in the league. That would be a deadly pairing.
However I agree with LeafsGM - Tanevs history of injuries makes me way too nervous to commit to. He’d cost more than you propose anyways (Bozaks contract rights are worthless) .
I really like the St. Louise trade but I’m not sure they do it. I do really like Willy but Parayko is a great dman with room to grow and is locked up on a good contract.
Jumbo Joe and Nash are both going to sign contracts significantly bigger than you proposed.

You think Trouba is worth Fowler and a 1st?
He's a 2nd pair Dman at best. His offense is only adequate.
And his attitude is myopic.
JVR is going to be expensive for the Ducks simply because they have no quality LW. Much like we have to pay for a RHD; the Ducks will have to pay dearly for JVR. Take a look at what the Ducks got for Anderson.
Look at what the Wild handed out to Arizona for Hanzel ( a 3rd line center at best at this stage of his career)
JVR will pull a 1st, Another 1st/ player, a 2nd/ player, and a cap dump.
For the Ducks that will be a 1st, Max Jones, Manson and Bieksa prior to the expn draft.
If not, the Leafs shop elsewhere. If they don't move him they extend him. If the move him, they sign him as a UFA.
1st line wingers don't grow on trees.

Jvr isn't that good. lab is over evaluating. sure he's talented offensively but he's soft and weak defensively. He's constantly gets knocked off the puck by smaller players and refuses to play with any physical edge.

JVR has played on the 1st line since he got here. I'm not over evaluating, you are de-evaluating. Hanzal got a 1st and 2nd, JVR will fetch much more. The Ducks will pay simply because they need a quality LW - Silvferberg isn't that good.
So who's the top LW? Leo? Hyman? Martin? C'mon. Those guys are not even close to JVR.

It has everything to do with the insurance. It wasn't insured so they had to swollow all of the salary and eat the full cap hit. That's a big bill. If they were going to pay 5.3m they wanted that player to be playing ( Clarkson) (even if he is horrible). They don't want that contract back.
