Seen this one a few times. I still think it’s a good one. Value is about even. Pulock is a good player and is on a cheap contract. Re-signing him next year he will get a raise, but will still be affordable. Unless he has one helluva breakout season next year, i have a hard time seeing him break $5M, and will probably be closer to $4M. He’s a big hitter that can chip in offensively. Hate to lose Kapanen, but you got to give to get. Both teams are trading from positions of strength to address positions of weakness. They are about the same age and should cost close to the same after re-signing. I think islanders would do this. They have two a-prospects ready to make the jump to nhl very soon, and still have boychuck and Mayfileld playing RHD now. An absolute abundance of RHD, they can afford to lose Pulock if it means bringing in a top six forward like Kapanen, who can play 1RW if needed and score 20 goals and 40 points. It’s about as even as it gets and makes a lot of sense. So it will never happen. Lol.

If Tanev is going to play on the bottom pairing we should just flip him. No point in having a bottom paring defenceman making over 4 million dollars. I like the trade though, especially if we can flip Tanev after. It should be much easier.
I'm assuming the Kings would want a bit more or Martinez (like a good prospect) especially if your giving them Marleau, but I guess it's possible.
Pesce and Gostisphere are great players, but I just don't think we can afford either of them if we are bringing in Tanev and Martinez. If we can flip Tanev however, I would be all for it.

What's it matter if a player plays down in the lineup and making a lot of money? If you're acquiring that type of player, it should mean he's cheap. If you have the cap space, why wouldn't you want depth?

The point of the Tanev trade is to dump Zaitsev. So where Tanev plays after is inconsequential.
Between Pesce or Gostisbehere is a tough choice if I had to make it. But at this point I still got to say go with the Ghost.
We can do better than just Kassian for Brown.

I would do this trade in a heart beat it improves our defense and LA really need young forward that will help them score
I also think we need capitalize on trading kadri as he would easily be #1 but at #2 center on other teams.

I think this forward group looks solid I don't think anyone will take Marleau unless we retain half his salary and give up a decent prospect or pick.

I'm sorry but the leafs can't afford doughty and his 11 mill contract. Anyway what your offering is too small. LA would want Marner or Matthews, which the leafs won't do.
The Anaheim trade sucks. What does everyone see in Manson? he is a top 6d who had one good year. This year he was almost as bad as Zaitsev. I wouldn't even trade a second round pick for him. Leafs can't afford him anyway.
If the leafs can get another backup goalie I'm fine with the Edmonton trade. Mclheiny probably stays in Carolina.

Could be David. Wouldn’t surprise me. Both are damn good players. Looking at our defensive prospect players, we have a lot of extremely good young players in the system, with Sandin and Liljegren topping the list, being the top so-called a-prospects. Along with a couple less hyped prospects such as Hollowell, Rosen, and Duszak, you got to think Leafs have a lot of depth in the pipeline and could therefore trade one of either Sandin or Liljegren. They would bring the most return.
Hard to say. We don’t have a lot of options than try running with a rookie crew right now. Can’t afford a big name. We can’t even afford to re-sign Gardiner, who isn’t even a top line defender. Probably best we stick with Liljegren and Sandin both for now if you ask me. But that’s just my opinion. Dubas is a smart man. He’ll do what’s best for the team.
