To Colorado:
Nylander
To Toronto:
Better of
2019 Ottawa's 1st. Or
2019 Colorado's 1st
+
Tyson Barrie
Toronto potentially gets a very high draft pick and a top 4 RD.
Colorado gets a supper star

Calling Nylander a superstar is a joke right?
No way Colorado trades either first to go along with Barrie. I don’t think Barrie is the right guy for us anyway. Someone younger, cheaper, who can be controlled for many years is what we should be looking at here. In other words, Makar or Timmins.

Nylander has proved away from Matthews he really isn't a threat due to fact he misses the net 80% of the time. I mean he has a shot a great shot when it actually hits net. He becomes a game changer 10% of season. not much more
Matthews is the guy who will make you look awesome. he will get 10-14 million . Nylander is only half his starness. adding super to a star is not Nylander. he is just a great player when surrounded by studs. Kessel is his twin but actually a tad better as he hits net most of time.
Nylander might get Barrie plus a few 2nd rounders but not much more.

This is not a trade but more of a here is what I think will happen.
Leafs will sign Nylander to a
6 years at 7.3m on December 1st
This will carry a 6.7 cap hit for years 2+
Leafs will save cap space and close to what they want. Nylander gets top dollars for 22 year old on RFA
Ha? Ha?

it’s not a bad idea. Someone on the NHL affiliated site just explained this to me in detail the other day, so I know exactly what you are getting at here. The longer we let Nylander sweat it, the cheaper that cap hit is for the remainder of the contract after year 1, yes. So if we sign him last day before he loses the season, we could be lowering AAV fairly significantly for the duration of the contract. It’s a smart idea. I don’t think it’s a ha ha at all.

By ha? Ha? I meant what you think like a question not hahaha lol.
Thanks.

Oh. Ok. Lol. My bad.
I think it’s a great idea to let Nylander sit as long as possible. He’s the one losing out. I like your idea here. I think it’s a great idea and definitely shows astute cap management.
