Leafs focus on getting a Top 2 younger Defenceman get's them that in a big way, yes it's a lot to give up but worth the price imo.

Red Wings in that still rebuilding mode and yes trading Seider would be something they wouldn't normally do, but getting that package replaces more than what they have currently.

*Caps retain 4 million of Carlson's remaining 2 years with an AAV of 2 million.

Leafs will be looking in the off season to get a solid two way defenseman imo, and Carlson checks all the boxes as well as being a veteran player.

Caps are an older team looking to get younger for the future, Carlson has been a top Defenceman for them but it's time to trade him for assets that help for the now and the future and this proposal does that imo.

Carlson is 34 years old and primed for decline.
Giving up a 25 year old Liljegren, a 22 year old Robertson, Akhtyamov a good goaltending prospect plus a 1st round pick for a 34 year old defenseman seems like something Ferguson Jr, Burke or Nonis would do.

Islanders might. Pullock is now their #2RD. They have no cap space next year and lots of spots to fill. A solid deal imo. Pullock is a guy that I have thought would be a good target. I would imagine that the Isle would want picks and prospects mostly though as they need cap space.

Capitals in not a complete rebuild but retool to get younger will be on the table imo for next season, this type of trade proposal will do this, Carlson has been an outstanding Defenceman over the years for Washington but with his age and probably still having value this proposal makes sense.

Leafs will be focusing on improving Defense and Carlson gives them more offence on the Blueline, as well as veteran leadership, players like Edmundson and Lyubushkin are tough hitting Defencemen that I believe Toronto also tries to resign which will give a better balance for next season.

As much as Carlson has been a great defenceman for a very long time now, he's showing his age a bit. This isn't a deal I'd do.

I see this as a substantial overpayment.
Carlson is already 34 years old and recently played his 1,000th game.
His skills and ability will do nothing but deteriorate over the coming years.
Liljegren, Robertson, Grebyonkin and a 1st is a large portion of Leafs youth for a guy that has two or three left in his career.
Not something I would be happy to see Trevling do.
