While Vatanen is not OEL, he didn't go for very much.
OEL's value is lower than you would think, because he's on a very bad team.
Gardiner and a 1st would be the limit. Anything more would be an over payment.

I looked into OEL's play in detail. I take the above back.
The Leafs shouldn't even bother with the currently worst Dman in the NHL. Pylon is doing way better at 13 pts and only -4. Gardiner is way better at only 1 point behind and only -2.
+/ - isn't a great indicator of a lot of things; but when it's consistently bad, it's a harbinger of failure.
Take a look at his record, then tell me why you want to trade for a Dman that can't play defence. And he's currently paired with a good Dman, Hjalmarsson at -2.
We don't need a worse Jake Gardiner.

Buffalo: Marner would help form a powerhouse line with 2 near equal offensive talents ( Eichel-Marner ). Jake Gardiner would temporarily play first pairing with Dahlen and Kappy would be solid on the 3rd line with 2nd line potential.

Leafs- Get exactly what they need a true 2 was number 1 RHD who can play 30 min a night and match up with any line. Morgan Rielly and him would make the perfect pair
Colorado-Huge shake up to there team and helps fill there prospect pool Kappenen can step into a top 9 role with PK and Top 6 potential. Dermotte is a good prospect not amazing but could pan out into a decent NHLer and the 1st is self explanatory.

Toronto: Toronto gets a big name star that is extremely underrated because of age ( he scored 1 less point then Mathews playing with worse players ).Zetterberg would be amazing with Mathews they would compliment each other perfectly if you watched the leafs you'd know Hyman needs to be moved down the lineup. Green is a good top 4 dman that could put up great numbers beside Rielly and on the 1st PP unit.
Detroit: Detroit gets a good top 6 20 goal 20 assist rookie that'd kick start there rebuild.
Dermotte is projected to be a good two way top 4 dman and the biggest asset of the trade is the 1st needed for the rebuild.

Paying Coleman 5 million is just not smart at all. Would Coleman help out the leafs? Absolutely! But you don’t pay a 3rd liner 5 million especially when 35% of your cap space is allocated to 3 players. Coleman at 5 million screams David Clarckson and we all know how that turned out. I’d offer Coleman around what Kerfoot makes. There is cheaper options out there that are just as effective available at every deadline. Hyman is definitely worth that but I’d wager he takes a discount in the 3.5 million range due to his father being worth hundreds of millions of dollars, his fit on the leafs and him being a hometown boy. I don’t see the point of breaking up the Tavares-Nylander chemistry for a mid pick and minimal cap savings. I also don’t get why San Jose would have any interest in Kerfoot being a bottom feeder rebuilding team. Also as good as Getzlaf is he’s not leaving the west coast. It’s Vegas, San Jose or Retirement. MAYBE San Jose or LA but doubt it.
I respect how you made a effort to be unbiased tho.
