Toronto to trade with both Pittsburgh and Carolina
PIT: 5th rd (149) pk 2019
TOR: Jamie Oleksiak
CAR: Andreas Johnsson and 1st rd pk 2019
TOR: Dougie Hamilton and Curtis McElhinney
Rielly Hamilton
Gardiner Dermott
Hainsey Oleksiak
Both Gardiner and Hainsey will be gone after this season then Nikita Zaitsev and other ??? will fill in the gaps.

I think its got to be a 4th rounder for Oleksiak. Also Carolina won't trade Mclheiny, he is their best goalie.

I like what you're thinking here, but would like to make a small addition:
CAR: Andreas Johnsson, Timothy Lillegren and 1st rd pk 2019
TOR: Dougie Hamilton, Ferland and Curtis McElhinney
4th or 5th rd pick 2019 (no higher)
TOR: Jamie Oleksiak, Adam McQuaid, or Bouwmeester.

Um no if we could trade a 5th or 4th rounder for Oleksiak then Dubas would have done that already. I would offer Gardiner for Oleksiak for a 1st.

Gotta love the size of Oleksiak. Boy oh boy. Isn’t he something?
Now that Oleksiak is signed, it’s doubtful Pittsburgh let’s him go for as low as what they paid for him. When Pittsburgh brought Oleksiak in, he was a 26 year old pending free agent who still hadn’t played a full season in the NHL. Pittsburgh took a bit of a chance on him to beef up their defense before heading into the playoffs. And it paid off for them. Oleksiak is doing rather well, and is on a pretty darn good contract to boot. I’m not entirely sure what his value is right now. Whatever someone is willing to pay I guess. But now that he is full time NHL, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be more than a mid-round pick.

why would pittsburgh want to trade oleksiak they're a playoff team the pick means nothing to them, but overall I do love oleksiak and of he was not on a contender I would be all over him for a MAX 4th round pick definaty not more than that.

Would have to throw in a decent prospect. And it's very unlikely Carolina parts with mcbackup, he's their best goalie.

I’m not saying we should have kept McElhinney instead of Sparks, but he sure is looking good in Carolina this year. A damn good goalie and a real stand up guy, I’m glad to see him doing so well on a middling Carolina team. I don’t know what we would do with him and Sparks. We would have to trade out Sparks I guess.
I can’t even possibly think of anything else to say about Hamilton that I haven’t said a thousand times already. If we could get him for the right price, then sure, why not bring him in. At minimal he has got to be better than Hainsey, though hard to say by how much better he increases our odds of winning. I don’t know what his “value over replacement†is here. Hainsey is doing rather well this year too after all. If Johnsson is the price, I say go for it. Even though losing Johnsson would really suck and weaken that LW even more. We would almost definitely have to make another trade somehow to replace him.

I don't get the need for leaf fans to have mccheliney backup play like 15 games MAX a year baring an injury sparks has been fine all you ask is for your backup to get the win it dosnt matter how they dpo it, as long as they do it and he has I believe he only has like 2 or 3 losses and even hutchinoson was great and I would be ore than happy ith eithe rof them mich rather spend assets on D than a goalie who wil play less than 10 games for the rest if the year and VERY LIKELY none in the playoffs.

Would rather keep Johnsson than Ferland, who is pending UFA and seems to be having problems keeping his head up this year.
