Pretty solid deal. Simmonds not having the greatest year, so should be able to get him for something right around this value. Very good player. Physical, scores goals. He would be a nice rental. Not giving up a roster player is what makes this deal so appealing. Always hate to lose 1st round picks, but Leafs are officially in “win now” mode and will likely have to sacrifice some futures in order to plug a few weak points heading into the playoffs each year. Our 1sts will be late anyway. So it’s not like we will be trading away Hamilton’s or Seguin’s again.

That's an expensive rental player to be sure. He's the type of forward we are missing for sure. Still think a RHD is the priority.
