Leafs trade Nylander, Leivo, Marincin, Sandin, 1st
San Jose trades Thornton, Meier

Kadri/ Matthews/ Meier
Hyman/ Tavares/ Marner
Marleau/ Thornton/ Kapanen
Johnsson/ Lindholm/ Brown

As Craigger has pointed out, we would have to waive Leivo and Marincin anyway, so may as well just include them.

Thornton is cap dump so SJ can afford to sign Nylander. Even still is tight, so may have to take another.

I didn’t know Thornton and Marleau didn’t like each other until I read your post below. Lol. We can take E. Karlsson instead of Thornton. He’s not doing so hot in SJ. And they absolutely can’t afford to re-sign him. I think at this point if they can’t get any meaningful return for him, they might bite.

You can also trade Marleau to LA or Vegas as they are a relatively close, but not short, drive to SJ.

LA needs offense and for Vegas, it would be bringing in a marque name .

Meier is having stellar year and SJ values him higher than Greedy I’m sure.

I don't get this. Meier+Sandin = Nylander, Isn't Sandin with us, plus we give up our 1st. And regarding Meier, yes he is having a stellar year, just the kind of year that demands a big payday and I for one don't want to go through this again.
Thornton is done, just playing out the season in the warm climate that he likes so well.
