To Toronto
Juolevi
Lind
Stecher
2019 1st
2020 3rd

To Vancouver
Nylander
Gardiner(50%retain)

My thinking here is Nylander on an offer sheet is worth a 1st,2nd and a 3rd
Juolevi,Lind are the 1st and 2nd while the 3rd is the 3rd

Gardiner is worth a 1st but at 50% of his salary for this year stecher becomes the roster player course no back..very solid young RHD..not a stud but very reliable.

This help a injury depleted Canucks...Nylander becomes a top forward there..Gardiner is the best defenceman there...

Thoughts?

All signs are nylander stays. What happens off season anyone guess but he will sigh a contract and play Toronto soon.

Juolevi then he steal here and is what gives this trade all it’s legs. Nylander is actually worth more than 1, 2, 3rd. He would only be worth 1,2,3 if contract was for five years between $6-$8M. But since he is seeking 8year term, any dollar amount going past the first five years has to be averaged out over those first five. So, if the offer is $7x8=$56, then that is $11.1M per year over five years, which makes the compensation 4x1st rounders. A much higher compensation indeed, which probably explains why he didn’t get offer sheet yet. Even comparables like Schenn, Kessel (twice), and O’Reilly (twice) would value him at 2x1st + roster.

Juolevi is a very very highly rated prospect. A can’t miss prospect player, I would love to have him on the team. Along with Sandin, Dermott, Liljegren, we would be set for the next decade. If Vancouver makes this trade, Leafs should jump on it. I love it Craigger.

Jake Gardiner is not even the best defenseman at Jake Gardiners house

He’s bad.

Forgot. to figure out compensation it's total money of deal divided by 5 years. yikes.

Why haven't teams offer sheeted someone the 14 million but only for 1 year on a player who plays on a team that is close to cap. that way the average is less than 3 per year so then the return is a 2nd.

Then when able to resign him that February give him 7 years at what his value is. Give up a low asset for a stud. cheating yes, but is it plausible?

Just wondering.

Offer sheeting an rfa whi can file for arbitration next season requires a qualifying offer of at minimum what the salary is.
