I’m going to do this just for fun.

To Arizona: Austin Matthews, jake gardiner

To Toronto: OEL, crouse, chukchyrn (sp? ) 1st 2020

Again, this is just for fun. in no way do I think we should, just wanted something for people to chew on.

Bettsy! Have you lost your brain 🧠? My god. Any trade involving Jake Gardiner is usually a good trade. But you have found a way to break that truism in spectacular fashion.

OEL has to be one of the most overrated players in the game (entirely my opinion) . His contract is crippling, and will be the exact contract both Gardiner and Rielly will use in their negotiations against the Leafs.

Crouse is a bust. And Chychrun is injury prone. He’s definitely not the next Duncan Keith. I know Matthew’s is injury prone too. Maybe affects his value come contract negotiations. I don’t know. You tell me.

Trading Matthews for half of Arizona’s team doesn’t make sense imo. I mean, these guys haven’t done anything for Coyotes. What makes you think they are going to do any better here?

Not a bad trade value wise. I mean it is for fun. hate to ever lose Matthews. but for one moment let's take a step back and start to think of things in a plausible fashion.

Leafs unable to come to a mid season conclusion in negotiating with Matthews. Arizona steps in and offer sheets him 14 plus million. this may happen and in end leafs get what 4 1st rounders and a 2nd due to that amount on offer sheet . so let's go through this deal. jake Gardiner is UFA and will fetch a 1st round pick or a 2nd and prospect.

OEL . great dman and on open markets gets arizona a 1st,2nd,2 prospects
Crouse . ok big LW gets Arizona a 2nd or roster player and prospect
Chycrun. good LHD gets Arizona 1st and prospectłf
1st Rd top 15 pick after this deal. possible top 5

Matthews due to age and talent is worth this package by himself, heck the value of him in Arizona without them spending 14 million to do so could be worth Strome on top of everything here

Gardiner unsigned is worth another 1st. however, signed add in Hayton.

That's just my opinion. after all it's for fun.

Oh come on Craigger. You’re not selling this to me.

We get back OEL, who is just a rich man’s Jake Gardiner. We absolutely cannot afford $8M to OEL and atill re-sign Rielly. And if I had to choose between OEL and Rielly, it would be Rielly. Crouse is a bust. No doubt about that. And usually I would say it’s too early to call chychrun a bust. But, since it’s Arizona, there’s a good chance he’s a bust too.

So two busts and an overpaid OEL? For Matthews? Forget it. The 1st makes it interesting. Could be top 5. That alone would make this trade catch attention.

I said leafs would have to add. Strome, hayton and a 1st rounder which would be a 2019.,

OEL, Strome, crouse, chycrun, hayton,2019 1st,2020 1st. that's 7 assets for 2.

I say no. still. but benefit of this being fun, IF and only IF we talking Matthews to Arizona I'd rather this return than a simple offer sheet return. that's all I was saying.

In the end no. your points were as good as I could say it but I was just trying to justify that all in fun stuff. lol.

Hey LeafsGM, let me start off again by saying I would never support a deal like that nor do I believe it would ever happen. I’m More or less wondering what a deal involving Matthews would look like. Simply wondering. Would adding Keller be worth it? Maybe go big with another team? I’m just inviting for fun.

Maybe after you add in Strome, Hayton and the 1st like Craigger says.

If Arizona were to offer sheet Matthews, the return is 4c1st round picks. Coming from a team like Arizona, that may actually be something to consider, as those four first round picks will all likely be top 5 picks. OEL, Crouse, Strome, Chychrun, those guys Arizona can keep. They haven’t done anything in Arizona, and I doubt they do anything here. We can draft our own busts thank you. Lol.

The only reason to consider trading Matthews is his recent injury history and for cost savings. $12-$14M a year buys some pretty damn good players. I mean, would you rather have two guys equivalent to Pasternak on the team plus still have a handful of first round picks, or one Auston Matthews? Tough call.
