Blues need more Offense and will get it from both players

Leafs need Parayko and Swartz can replace Marleau when his time is up.

Salaries balance roughly balance out

10.8 mil for Parayko and Schwartz

12 mil for Nylander and Gardiner (guessing)

St. Louis needs a deal that takes away salary. they are worst team cap wise in a NHL.

Value of this deal is there. If there was no cap this deal could be made today. unfortunately there is a cap so this deal can't go through until st. louis adds more salary going torontos way.

Would love to get Parayko.

I don't think the Blues would make the deal but here goes:

Parayko and Swartz (10.8) minus Nylander at 7M and 50% of Gardiner = approx 1.6 M in favour of the Blues. It still leaves them room if Nylander sticks them for 8M and they want to pay it. Signing Nylander will be their issue, not the Leafs. The Blues can trade away whom ever else they want to make the room they need. It's not like they can't do that.

The Leafs currently have 16M in cap space for this year.

In Addition for making this work for the Blues:

No conditional silly stuff. Add Robert Thomas from the Blues and send back the Leafs 1st (Will be late anyway) . An additional 894k saved for the Blues. (or you can make it Robbi Fabbro or Barbashev, but Thomas is better) . There needs to be a future coming back here as Nylander is only 22.

Trade Zaitsev before the deadline for picks/ prospects to clear some room. In effect you are replacing Zaitsev with Parayko in terms of RD, and the loss of Gardiner, no one will notice. A serious upgrade by subtraction.

Nylander is not getting 8M from anyone; there already would have been a trade.

If I remember right, the Leafs have until sometime in Feb to trade his rights. Let's send him to Arizona and let him sit for the year.

Absolutely love this deal if we could afford it and St. Louis would consider it. Parayko and Schwartz both have term left on their contracts. Outstanding players both. Schwartz would replace Nylander’s offense, and Parayko gives our defense exactly the type player we need to carry us deep into playoffs. I don’t think you would be able to squeeze anymore out of Blues. The return here alone is enough. If Leafs could make a trade like this, Dubas would instantly cement his reputation as an astute and dominant GM that can handle himself during the most trying of times and still come out ahead.

You got to remember that petragelo (not how you spell it) isn’t getting any younger and parayko is their next top guy so why would they move him.
