With the 2.1 million we save from Brown and the extra year on his contract, we could sign Laine to a big contract with Matthews and Marner.

Ok, defence looks poor at best. offence looks deadly but Laine is so slow and bad defensively it will cause Matthews to focus more on defence that he may lose his 5v5 effectiveness. the pp is amazing but it already is that so maybe a few extra goals here or there. is it worth the defence this team will lose overall.

The PK lost a great guy. Kadri loses pp time but is a PK add. don't know if that's smart but whatever.

Laine = 11-14 million you just wait until he demands this

Nylander Gardiner brown = 14.5 this year, 16.5 next .

I'll take what we have now. but if Laine floats your boat it's a good proposal then.

I guess Craigger covered it all pretty well. My only input here is that Jets can’t afford to take on both Gardiner and Nylander.

Laine floats my boat, while Nylander and Gardiner both make the milk sour. I wish Dubes could make a trade of this magnitude.

Neither Laine or Matthews are worth $11 million a season. Heck, not even McDavid is worth $12.5 million a season. Oilers GM Chiarelli is an idiot and the NHL should have voided McDavid's contract. They need to renegotiate the CBA and scale back these ridiculous salaries. The max contract per season should be $10 million per season instead of $15.6 million per season.
