I don’t think Carolina will move ferland unless you add something more of value cause gardiner has non the have Faulk who is basically the same player.

Take Ferland out and it's a good deal. Maybe add something a bit less.

If Leafs could have gotten Hamilton and Ferland + for Nylander and Gardiner they would have just dealt with Calgary directly themselves, and the Hanifin for Hamilton trade wouldn’t have taken place. I like the size of all these guys. If your objective was to increase size, then congratulations are in order, you’ve done an admirable job.

Gauthier is a solid prospect. Read lots of good things on him. Big kid. Would be a real nice pick up for Leafs if we could get him.

Hamilton for Nylander is very interesting
Ferland for Gardiner is less interesting

Adding Gauthier to this deal might make up difference in value

If I were Dubas I'd do it

LeafsGM made good point about Calgary but at time Nylander was getting signed in Dubas mind for 5-6 million. he didn't so now it's time to talk to multiple teams and pry a RHD away for him.

Hamilton was traded in June, the Leafs were not at an impasse with Nylander then so no, they would not have traded with Calgary.
