Car- slavin, pesce

Toronto might have to add but this gives Toronto a rock solid d core. Slavin will be elite and pesce will be a star as well.

Your giving up way to much, Liljgren is worth more then Pesce, now do the math for the rest, I it was Nylander, Gardiner, 2nd for Slavin Pesce, maybe.

Your right mostleaf except Pesce is worth more right now. He is proven in NHL. Lilly no.

But Lilly is 19 and is GOING to make the leafs next year, and he looked exceptionally good in the preseason so in my opinion a 1 for 1 Liljgren for Pesce would be a tough pill to swallow for the leafs.

Im not saying I would trade him. But Pesce is 23 and proving to be a really good one already. Prospects are just that until proven. There have been quite a few first round busts over the years. Talent is there though. The mental side is the hard part, especially for defenceman.

Oh man. This is a toughie. Hate to give up Liljegren, but for Slavin I think we would have to do it. We wouldn’t really be saving any money because Gardiner is gone anyway, but Slavin and Pesce are both signed long term to very reasonable contracts, and would really provide stability to our back end.

Liljegren worth more than Pesce is debatable. I’d say they’re about even at this point. As for the rest, Slavin is definitely worth more than Nylander. The 1st is what we have to pay Carolina to take Gardiner off our hands, who may not re-sign with ‘Canes. So it’s compensation for the extra risk they incur taking on a pending UFA while giving up two high end defensemen signed to very team friendly contracts.

Leafs GM that's what I was thinking also we have sandin in the system which would make trading liljegren easier.

It was a good proposal. Carolina gives up a couple really good defensemen, but receive a couple back, along with Nylander and the pick. We get the help we need on the back end, and they get help up front, plus some futures.

All round, this was the best proposal I’ve seen all day. A lot of very high quality players suggested, and the value and fit seems right for both teams.

I wish I had thought of this one. Good job. Its a real winner, and though I don't think Dubes has the chops to try a trade like this just yet, I wish he would. I really think Slavin would be a good pickup and could even possibly replace Reilly in a few years.

I like your stuff VanCreamsdyk. Its always thought out well and makes sense. I enjoy reading posts like yours that make sense and are unusual. This one was easily the best I’ve seen in a while.
