A trade that could help both teams. The Blues are tight up against the cap this season and the Leafs will be next season.

To TOR: D - J. Bouwmeester (1 year left at $5.4MM cap hit) Cash paid is $5.4MM

To STL: F - N. Horton (2 years $5.3MM cap hit) Cash paid is $8.1MM

Best for both teams, Bouwmeester has been a healthy scratch for STL, Horton would go LTIR for them and allow them to get cap relief. The Leafs have cap space this season to eat Bouwmeester's contract and then cleared of it in the offseason.

I think this is a win win, Dubas pick up the phone and call STL!

It Ã¡lmost makes too much sense that it won't happen. but it's a good way around both teams cap problems. don't know if league will approve Horton moving again since he will never play. but that's not for me to decide so the thought is a good one.

I like this idea too.

We can throw them Gardiner too and take back a prospect/ pick. They can use Giveaway a lot more than we could. Rather earn a return on him than lose him for nothing.
