To Carolina:
Nylander, Durzi, Marincin, 2019 4th
To Leafs:
Pesce, Foegele

To NYI:
Zaitsev, 2019 1st, Timashov, Korshkov
To Leafs:
Pulock, maybe a late pick or prospect

To Columbus:
Gardiner (must sign extension), Brown, conditional 2020 1st (Panarin re-signs, if not it's a 2020 2nd and 2021 3rd), Gauthier
To Leafs:
Panarin (no extension needed)

Again the only reason Panarin would re-sign is if he is ok with a sign and trade for picks/prospects.
The leafs give him the money he wants and he gets to play with the team he wants to, or he could test FA, up to him.

Lines
Marleau/Matthews/Panarin
Hyman/Tavares/Marner
Foegele/Kadri/Kapanen
Johnsson/Lindholm/Leivo
*Ennis
Rielly/Pulock
Dermott/Pesce
Hainsey/Ozhiganov
*Holl
Anderson
Sparks

Lines next year:
Foegele/Matthews/Kapanen
Hyman/Tavares/Marner
Johnsson/Kadri/FA
Grundström/Lindholm/Leivo or Bracco (if he is ready, then we sign and trade Leivo or play him with Kadri if he improves a lot)
*Moore
Rielly/Pulock
Dermott/Pesce
Borgman, Sandin, Rosen, FA/Liljgren
*Holl
We could also trade Pulock and bump up Liljgren and Holl next year beacuse Pulock is on a two year contract

I forgot about Marleau in next year Lines so 1st, 2nd and 4th line stay the same, but:
Marleau/ Kadri/ Johnsson
That’s the third line, no FA needed.

Ok. What are you seeing in Foegele that i'm not? To be honest, I’ve never seen him play, so relying entirely on stats and online scouting/ analyst reports. He’s a big kid, plays a decent game, off to a good start (Carolina looks good so far), but he’s doesn’t have a lot of experience, and would probably be a depth player on Leafs unless he really breaks out.

Am I missing something?

I mean he has 5 points in 7 games so far and the leafs need some more big kids, but your right I think I may be giving up a bit too much for him, I just think that if the leafs were to trade Nylnader to Carolina, he would probably be the guy who leafs get back other then Pesce

Let’s say this instead:
To Carolina:
Nylander, Marincin, 4th
To Leafs:
Pesce, Foegele
That seems a bit more fair right?
Well at least from a leafs fan perspective it does.

I’m not saying it was a bad trade. I was just wondering what you saw in him to a) trade for him to begin with, and b) to put him on the top line.

You never know. He’s got 5 goals and 8 points in 9 NHL games played. He could be a real sleeper that turns out well. Wouldn’t be the first time a 3rd rounder turned out to be a real stud. I like his size. You’re right about that.
