Leafs trade. Nylander, Kadri
Chicago trades Saad, Anisimov, Schmaltz, Jokiharju

Marleau/ Matthews/ Kapanen
Saad/ Tavares/ Marner
Anisimov/ Schmaltz/ Hyman
Leivo/ Lindholm/ Brown
*Johnsson, Ennis

Reilly/ Hainsey
Gardiner/ Zaitsev
Dermott/ Jokiharju
*Ozhiganov
(Sandin/ Liljegren)
(Rasanen)

It was tricky, but I think this trade works for both teams salary cap wise. Trying to float a proposal involving Chicago is tricky because of their brutal cap situation.

Saad and Anisimov’s contracts expire in only three years. Along with Marleau’s contract expiring in two years, that should free up the cap space to re-sign everyone, including Rielly. It would be close, and we would may lose one or two guys lesser role fringe players, but all the big pieces should be there still.

Sorry, didn’t explain that quite right. Saad, Anisimov, Marleau all will not be coming back. That frees up the money to re-sign guys like Rielly, Andersen, Dermott, Liljegren, Sandin, Hyman, Brown, Schmaltz, Jokiharju, Kapanen, Johnsson.

Like I said, it will be close, and we may lose Brown, Leivo, Ozhiganov, other fringe players, but we should be able to keep the core together still.

LeafsGM

let’s look leafs defence going forward

Reilly zaitsev
Dermott liljegren

The question becomes what’s the future of this prospect no one mentions him.

Eemeli Rasanen

DOUG GILMOUR has said he is very good and he seems to be doing well KHL . Not including their 2018 pick who is 3 years away that’s all the leafs have. Rosen and Bergman are marginal players

Leafs defence is nightmare through 5 games I don’t believe leafs have any interest in signing GARDINER. So leafs have 3 trade chips to play nylander johnson and gardener they must find that aspiring right hand shot defender with lots of leaf contract control in front of him

MAKAR is a possible target who else might fit that mould? Leafs can slot Rosen Bergman or Holl this season but they need that big good young piece.

But, but, Saad+Artem are huge contracts and will only bloat the situation, if Achmatlz commands nearly 4m (which is likely) . If anything, we ahouldn’t be trading for bigger salary guys now unless they are dmen imo, its way too risky.

As well, I say leave the team how it is, with Naz and Mo, and worry about them in three years. We should’t be overly concerned if Mo walks, or Naz walks. there's three years from then. We have the chance ro build into a bonafide team with this core, i wouldn't be trading parts of this core (that have reasonble contratxs nonetheless) because i'm worried 3 years down the road.

Additionally, idk if Chicago would do thia tbh. Saad has some value; he has to, he was traded for Panarin, anisimov, maybe a 4th? But i know CHicago is very high on Joki because of their lack of young, puckmoving dmen, and Schmaltz is their 2C giving them Toews-Schmalt down the middle. Maybe the values there, but all these high quality pieces moving at the same fime is unlikely to impossible.

I’ve traded Harsiner for virtually everyone I can possibly think about trading him for. Twice. And Nylander is right behind him. These trades don’t have to take place this year. All I’m doing is pointing out where the bottlenecks are in our cap situation and suggesting ways to alleviate that before we run into a bigger cash crunch. Kadri and Reilly both have more value if we trade them before their contract year when they still have some term left for the receiving team. We get a larger return that way.

The rumor is Saad is a sulked and whiner when things don't go right?
Don't know if it's true or not.
