Another option

Tor: nylander gardiner sandin 3rd

Nyr: namestikov skjei

Idk if this is too much but skjei is New York best d and are rebuilding so we give them giveaway gardiner and prospect sandin and a pick and namestikov can slide in our line up and give us three lines

I don't think that gardiner has that much value and I think nylanders value is decreasing also you have to look at the fact that my lander and gardener need deals so also kinda lowers their value

Thoughts.....

Skjei may be NYR best d but he still sucks, plus we already have enough LD, I don't know how many times I have to say it, we don't need any more LD.

I think you’re overpaying.

Namestnikov is a yes in my books. Skjei not so much. I like his size, but he makes a lot of defensive gaffes same as Giveaway. I don’t think Rangers will want Giveaway. They would love Sandin though I’m sure.

I would make a deal centered around Nylander for Namestnikov and tweak it a little. Dump Gardiner on first team that offers 1st and prospect. Keep Sandin.

Sandin is going nowhere. dealing with NY is a big no in my opinion.

Why would Nylander's trade value be decreasing? Kapanen has looked serviceable on Matthews wing, but it's not like Kapanen looks like Nylander. Willy is still an awesome hockey player. His value to the Leafs may be on the decline because the team is winning and playing well without him, but Willy should still fetch a very nice return because he's still a very good player. He alone could probably bring back Namestnikov and Skjei.

He’s a great regular season hockey player

Playoffs - soft

Some people are like that . They have one compete level

The good ones raise their game and get nasty .

He won’t . scared .

I know he has skill, got it . we have lots of offensive skill . it’s d and toughness we need

He doesn’t offer either.

Just so everyone is clear if you guys didn’t realize Mathews carried nylander last two seasons he not a scorer and in my opinion his value is decreasing because he hasn’t played this year and not many teams will want to pay him 8 mil.

Let's be honest, in a lot of your minds his value is decreasing simply because you're mad at him because of this holdout. He's the same player he was last year, and his value is no different than it was last year. Wanting him gone is one thing, but wanting him gone at any cost is poor asset management and emotion-based decisions. Much like Gardiner, the price has to be right, or at least close - otherwise you end up with Chairelli or Melnyk trades.

@marsbars

I’m not saying nylander is a bad player but as you can see we don’t “need” him I mean if he was willing to sign a fair deal sure keep him but I think with this situation it give last the leafs a great opportunity to add a good defencemen and make them better in that area I’m just hoping the leafs can sign him to anything under 7 because we can’t afford everyone Mathews and mariner will get paid.

Ok yeah i agree he's not necessary. When Tavares was signed, despite the "core 4" stuff by Dubas I saw him as expendable at that point. But he's a very valuable trade piece and if the Leafs try to trade him, they should get a haul similar to what the habs got for Paccioretty. And being so young, there should be plenty of suitors. Trading him at a below market price was where we had the disareement.
