Very simple, if Nylander won't or can't sign and leafs must move on from him. Nylander is worth more than Dumba but if push comes to shove I'd make this trade.

Would rather Nylander but again if no Nylander than Dumba is a solid alternative on a bad situation.

Dumba is a franchise player in himself. The RHD version of Reilly, Dumba possesses incredible hockey iq coupled with a physical presence that makes him a highly sought after and valuable asset for any team. Dumba’s offensive production almost replaces Nylander, plus we get a strong defensive aspect that Nylander sorely lacks. Together with Reilly and Gardiner, we would have three 50+ point defensemen, and would be the envy of the league.

I agree. Leafs would have to add because Minnesota wouldn't do a 1 for 1.
