So Matthews and Taveras on same line. Is that what you would like to see?

Yes imagine that first line, we would be able to do it with Panarin on the second line so our offence would be like so insane that nobody could touch us.

No from Winnipeg. Two players we have no use for and a 1st isn't worth giving up Myers for. Especially with the Trouba situation still up in the air.

But they are both Centers.

Yes you'll see them at times on the ice together. Power play mostly. But you have to break them up.

Ok I understand that, but Nylander takes most of the face offs when he is playing with Matthews anyway, I honestly think Matthews would work much better as a winger, he kind of needs to work on his defeaive play anyway so center may not be the best place for him.

Nylander takes offensive zone faceoffs on the right side only, in order to maintain structure and quickly establish a cycle. Babs chooses this because Nylander is a solid faceoff man and he's a rightie, not because Matthews needs someone to take faceoffs for him. Check out the numbers, Matthews was 54.5% on draws vs. 51.4% for Willy last year. Besides that, Matthews improved dramatically defensively last year. There's no reason to give up on playing him at centre, its ludicrous.

At the end of the day Babcock wants to roll four lines, not overload talent high in the lineup and open himself up to mismatches lower down the roster. Same applies to how Dubas wants to build a roster, as evident by the Marlies cup run last year.

Why not just pick all the players you like off other teams and put them on the Leafs?
