Trade Gardiner to first team that offers up a 1st round pick for him.

Then, trade any one or two of Kapanen/ Johnsson/ Brown/ Hyman to go along with 2x1st (2019), and a couple prospects off the Marlies (Timashov, Bracco, etc) to a team that has a very large defensive defenseman that can chip in in the offense as well.

That should be a high enough package to land a player like Zadorov, Ristolainen, or Parayko. All these guys are exactly what we need and would really make the Leafs defense a much better back end.

With trading Gards, maybe we just add a little, since he has one year left or we need to sign and trade him) but KNOWING Derms can step in.
I feel he can but, . Maybe look at Vancouver and go for Gudbranson.
Big, heavy shot, knows his role but, . sometimes I wonder if a fix for this year could be to put Jake up with Morgan and see how Dermott shapes up.
