Edmonton trade Matt Benning

Leafs trade Brown

Looks like brown is going to be odd man out soon

Marleau Taveras Marner
Hyman Matthews Nylander
Johnsson kadri Kapanen
Leivo Lindholm Grundstrom

Oilers have done nothing they need cheap forwards. Brown could play with Mcdavid

Benning could play leafs second paring right side

I don’t see Edmonton jumping on this trade David. Afternoon larsson, they have no one for RHD themselves, and Benning is working out rather well for them. Brown on McDavid’s line is a bit of a stretch, but who knows. They’ve played together in the past, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Brown could play the same role Hyman does for Matthews.

I think Benning is a good kid. Big bodied and hits a lot, which are two things I like to see. Sound defensively, he was on the positive side of +/ - on a porous Edmonton team. His ATOI is a little low. I think if we acquired him, he would be our third line RHD for a year, and then get boosted to top line if he can handle the duties.

Leafgm

I did notice Edmonton are weak on right side but they have done nothing so far. Missing playoffs and their GM is toast so I feel oilers would make that trade or do leafs add carrick

Leafs trade Brown Carrick

Oilers trade Benning.

Adding Carrick might be a big enough worm for Edmonton to take the bait. Who knows. Lol. I’m very curious as to what Edmonton does myself. In my honest opinion, I thought a shakeup of some sort was in order. A depth move such as this doesn’t really improve the team. Considering they have the world’s best player on the team, I would think they would be looking at making a move to provide McDavid with elite level talent, not someone like Brown, who is a fourth line winger on our team.

Edmonton really needs to get their rubbish together. I don’t think this trade is what they need, but it does have its appeal for both sides. It’s something they would at least have to consider.

oilers 5 million cap space who can they move out and nurse needs to be signed . He takes the 5 million I’m sure. So oilers need cheap players like brown who can go high in lineup. Are oilers a playoff team as is?

Oilers have a lot of money invested in their defense. My guess is that they dump a couple of their higher prices older defensemen, not the younger and cheaper guys like Benning or Nurse.

I don’t know much about the Oiler player mentioned but if I were the Leafs, I would continue to preach patience and hold onto Brown. I don’t see him as an odd man out. Davidmackin, I think I would have Brown higher up on the depth chart than Grundstrom and Leivo.

The Leafs are not going to trade Brown. This kid inked a very team friendly deal. Competes all the time he's on the ice and is just an exemplary team mate. They'll ride out his deal and see what happens in a few years.

Torontobuds,
Totally agree with your assessment of Brown. Toronto needs players like him to help fill out their roster. He’s on a very reasonable contract. He’s also a player that could easily move up in the line up. Not every time has the same forward versatility as the Leafs presently do.

Hyman is another player, who’s often thrown in so many trade proposals and yet he brings a number of intangibles to the Leafs. Hyman also played well during these past playoffs.

I’d rather the Leafs keep a few young, hardworking NHL level guys than be forced to play AHLers because of economics. Here’s hoping they sign Nylander to a reasonable deal.
