Leafs trade Brown
Detroit trades Rasmussen

Rasmussen is huge. Possible replacement for Kadri in a few years, or can be put on the wing.

Detroit gets a very good player who deserves a better chance on another team.

Doesn’t help us that much we lose a good pk guy for someone that can “replace Kadri” in the future I think brown is a good trading piece but for a defencemen that can help the leafs now.

If I were Leaf management I'd be all over this deal.

Detroit however may not agree. if they do though LeafsGM you have a winner here.

I love size and speed . Rasmussen is both. Kadri replacement plus a guy who fills in whenever Matthews has shoulder issues.

Again would Detroit do this?

You’re probably right. Rasmussen is a highly rated prospect, and a rebuilding Detroit team isn’t going to want to trade him for a third line winger. I guess my thinking is that Brown is proven NHL caliber player, while Rasmussen still carries risk.

I’ve just been exploring possibilities. Thinking about the future more so than the present is all. Seeing what perceived value on prospects is.

Rasmussen was Detroits 1st round pick last year!
Rasmussen is a center!
Do you truly believe Detroit would consider trading him for a 3rd line winger?
Ken Holland may have made some mistakes handing out long term contracts to some of his aging players but he is no fool!

Of course Brown is not worth a 1st. Holland is going senile, but he isn’t completely off his rocker.

But damn that Rasmussen kid is huge. He’s the type of player I would like on the team. What would you feel what be a fair trade to acquire him? Remember, he has never played a single game in nhl yet. Draft busts are more plentiful than diamonds after all, and the landscape is littered with them (Yakupov comes quickly to mind for example) .

I feel it would be more fair to trade kapenan for him, I would rather lose Brown, but kapenan has the higher ceiling.
