So apparently Panarin is unsure if he wants to stay with Columbus
To Columbus:
Marleau, 2019 1st, Korshokov, Sandin, Leivo
To Leafs:
Panarin, 2019 2nd
Marleau, Sandin, Leivo, 1st=Panarin
Korshkov=2nd
We already have Grundström so we don't really need Korshkov, especially with the depth we already have
Mcbackup and Carrick for a third rounder from a dream so leafs have 2 2nd rounders and a third rounder to make up for the lost 1st rounder
I say they do this to get a d
To Carolina:
Pickard, 2020 2nd, Bracco, rights to Aaltonen (RFA), if we have to throw in a 2019 3rd
To Leafs:
Pesce
Panarin/Matthews/Nylander
Hyman/Tavares/Marner
Johnson/Kadri/Kapanen
Grundström/Lindholm/Brown
Ennis, Jooris
Reilly/Pesce
Gardiner/Zaitsev
Dermott/Hainsey
Ozhiganov
Anderson
Sparks

Marleau gives Columbus a solution until they can find a long term replacement for Panarin
Sandin gives them better defensive depth which they need
A first, Korshkov and Leivo even it out and give them forward depth which they also need as an aging team
If u think leafs aren’t giving up enough then make Columbus’s 2nd a 3rd rounder
Carolina gets depth at forward and goalie a pick (or maybe 2) to get more depth
I already explained why leafs need Pesce.

Absolutely not.

The reason Panarin wants out of Columbus is because he wants a short term deal. Giving up all those quality assets for a player, no matter how good, who is only seeking a two year deal is a big no.

Gardiner for Panarin straight up. As each player is a UFA end of the year, the onus is on the receiving team to sign the incoming player.

There is no way Columbus accepts that though, her is what at the absolute minimum they accept
To Columbus:
Marleau, Gardiner, 2nd, Korshkov
To leafs:
Panarin
I’m throwing in Marleau because he would be a replacement for Panarin until Columbus finds a long term one
Leafs also wouldn’t be able to afford both Panarin and Marleau.

LeafsGm

Kucherov just signed 9-5 million 8 years. Do you think 8 million 8 years for marner I think that’s the number. Nylander 6.5 million 8 years Mathews 10 million 8 years thoughts.

I think you would be surprised at what you could get Panarin for. My guess is Columbus is desperate to get rid of him ASAP so they can start the season without having him around messing up the team chemistry. There aren’t many teams willing to part with a lot of assets for a 1 year rental, and who can afford the $6M in salary.

@Mackin

I think that’s too much for Marner. Kucherov scores a lot more goals than Marner, and is closer to Matthews talent level. Marner is likely to receive closer to Pasternak mo way. Around $6.5-$7M over 8 years. Nylander will be about the same. They have put up similar numbers so far, and I expect they will receive about the same compensation.

There is only one problem if Gardiner is traded, who replaces Reilly in case of injury?

Matthews, Nylander and Marner I think will take discount help keep the core together and win a cup with each other.

Dermott’s play has made the decision to not are-sign Gardiner easy for us. I’d rather trade Ardmore now for assets than lose him to free agency for nothing. We are in the same situation a year or less anyway. May as well get something now for him while we can. Dermott is our go-to guy at 2LHD now.
