To Toronto:
Pesce
To Carolina:
1st 2019, Leivo, Bracco, someone Carolina wants (in reason, no Liljegren or Grundström, etc) from Marlies, 2020 2nd round pick
Pesce is too expensive to be playing 3rd line for Carolina and would be a good shut down D to play with Reilly
Carrick in my opinion is better and will continue to get better then Hainsey, but for now we keep him as a 7th d
Trade Mcbackup for a pick and move Sparks up
Sign Nylander 7 years for 6.25-6.75 mill per year
I'm very sure I read somewhere leafs are going to sign Johnsson to 3 mill per year for 4 years
Sign Gautier to 1 year AHL contract (unless he wants to leave, then trade him with Mclheiny for a better pick or put him in the Carolina trade instead of Bracco)
If there is cap space sign Nash to 1 year (as long as he wants to play)
Lines(with Nash)
Marleau/Matthews/Marner/
Nash/Tavares/Nylander
Johnsson/Kadri/Kapanen
Hyman/Lindholm/Brown
Reilly/Pesce
Gardiner/Zaitsev
Dermott/Hainsey
Anderson
Sparks
Carolina has too many d especially after signing De Hann and we give them forwards here plus a first so I think they take it

Other than being younger, I’m not sure what you see in Pesce so much more than Hainsey. Hainsey has the better numbers across the board last season.

Hainsey: 4G, 23Pts, +12, 21:52Atoi, 91Hits, 169Blks
Pesce: 3G, 19Pts, -6, 20:54Atoi, 57Hits, 101Blks

Hainsey is a real competitor, and will likely re-sign with the team, taking one year deals until Liljegren is ready.

We could use Pesce, but I would team him up with Dermott for now and get that line working together. Keep Hainsey and Reilly together. Start sharing ice time and special teams situations evenly. Leafs can roll out three credible lines in the back end that have some upside offense potential as well.

Reilly/ Hainsey
Gardiner/ Zaitsev
Dermott/ Pesce.

I think comparing Hainsey and Pesce is fair. They have very similar builds (6'3" and over 200lbs) and are both team-first and defense-first guys. In fact, they played on the same defense from the start Pesce's rookie year in 2015 season to the trade deadline in 2016/ 2017, so the similarities are rooted in history. But he's definitely younger, stronger and faster with some room to grow, on a modest 4M contract with 6 years of term on it. He's a long-term solution at RHD without the offensive numbers that would warrant a bigger paycheck.

Regardless his addition would help reduce the workload and subsequent wear and tear that we saw in Hainsey late last year.

I think you'd have to offer someone that can contribute now to acquire Pesce, but I'd welcome the addition wholeheartedly.

Hainsey and Pesce are similar players? Jeeeeeeeze. Reason being I stopped checking this site so much, people are clueless and it gives me headaches. Again, +/ - is the last stat you should check when evaluating a player.

MarquesMen

Exactly what are the differences and similarities between Hainsey and Pesce then? Once again you expect us to take your word alone, without posting anything to support your views. If +/ - is the last thing we should be looking at, then please tell us what we should be looking at. And if you could post these “advanced stats” that you rely on, and tell us where to find them ourselves, that would be very much appreciated as well. This way, we can post the numbers you want to see, and you won’t have to be irritated by such mundane stats as hits, blocked shots, and +/ -.

It’s very difficult to take your criticism seriously when time and again you post nothing to support your views.

Pesce would be a great add. I don’t think you are far off on your trade proposal maybe add carrick and not the 2nd rd pick but I don’t know I am not very good at posting trades

Leafs don’t sign DeHaan lol leafsgm😀.

Use hockey reference for advanced stats. Google search stats you're unfamiliar with and grow your knowledge. Then people can actually take your evaluations on players seriously.

Zaitsev for Pesce.

Hockey reference? Where do you think I got the above information? Lol. Google? Google is a search engine, not a hockey reference site. You can google for a players “advanced stats” all you want, chances are you will be referred to Hockey-Reference.

I’m not worried about people taking my proposals seriously. At least I post proposals and contribute to conversation. I’m not afraid to post, even my off-beat proposals that I know nobody will agree with (like trading Reilly) . You bring nothing to the table, expecting us to take your word for everything, without putting up any reasoning or stats to back up your statements.

People who only post advanced stats and base their entire opinion on things like Corsi variants give me the impression they actually haven't watched the person play. Corsi is just plus/ minus for shot attempts anyways, expressed as a percent. Then variations are based on situation and minutes. I get that advanced stats has the word "advanced" in it so it must be super cool, but it's not the only way to judge a player. I'd rather read an article or two written by a team blogger and watch some highlights, the more I see the better. If you only judged Gardiner based on advanced stats, you would have no idea why 90% of Leafdom wants him gone.
Both being hang-back defense-first guys, Pesce and Hainsey do play a similar game. Pesce is younger, stronger, faster therefore obviously more effective. He clears his own net front well and limits point blank opportunities. Not a great passer but has a strong shot. Not afraid to jump up on the rush.

Stats should be used in conjunction with the eye test, not in lieu of.

Leafs gm I kind of agree with the possibly letting reilly go unless he's going to sign a discounted contract to keep the team together. But where are your thoughts on trading freddy if he has another bad playoffs? i'd do it this year tbh when he gets hot.

I don't have time to spend as much time on this site as you clearly. You talk as if you know what you're talking about but it's brutal to read. I'm saying you should use those useful "search engines" and grow your knowledge so you can actually post good content. You're a David Mackin 2.0.

@Randy

You would have to really believe in Sparks to trade Andersen right now. I’d rather see a goaltender dual like what we saw in Pittsburgh. Keep the winner and trade the loser.

@MarsBars

You nailed it. As always, you make a lot of sense and drive the point home.
