To Arizona:
Gardiner, 1st, Nylander, Leivo, sparks
To Leafs:
Demers, Chychrun, Strome, 1st
Strome and Chychrun won't be as expensive as Nylander (not combined) and Strome can replace Kadri when Kadri's contract is up, he will be a top 9 forward at least and he can play on the bottom line Center or on the wing until this happens
Chychrun and Demers are a swap for Nylander and Sparks
Gardiner, a first, and Leivo are a swap for Strome and a first
This is fair to both teams as Arizona needs forwards and will need a better LD on top 4 who they can pay for next year and they get a better backup goalie which they need
Leafs get a top shutdown RD to play with Reilly and one who can take Reilly's spot when his contract expires (I think Sandin will only be top 4D), plus a very good first round pick
If you think the leafs are giving up to much replace Sparks with Mcbackup and 2nd instead of first pick
Oh and sign Nash 1 year
Lines
Johnsson/Matthews/Marner
Nash/Tavares/Kapanen
Marleau/Kadri/Brown
Lindholm/Strome/Hyman
*Jooris
Reilly/Demers
Chychrun/Zaitsev
Dermott/Hainsey
*Carrick
Anderson
Mcbackup (or Sparks is u think leafs giving up too much)
Cmon I Really think this be bigots the leafs, especially when. U add in Arizona's first rounder

Absolutely not.

Nylander is by far the best player out of all these guys. And Gardiner isn’t anything to sneeze at either. We aren’t receiving anything even close to value in return. I’m not saying your trading Leaf gold for Arizona garbage. More like Leafs gold for Arizona bronze.

I like how you’re forward thinking and already trying to put the pieces together for Kadri and Reilly’s very possible departures in a few years. It shows you are starting to think more about our future than just our present needs.

I don’t know why auto correct said bigots I meant to say benefits
And also if leafs have to clear space trade Hainsey and move Carrick into lineup.

@leafsgm Chychrun is going to be a star LD, he is 20 and is already a to 4D in the NHL, so how about this, Kapanen instead of Nylander, now is it fair?

In any trade it is the team that get the best player (Sammy Pollock old GM of the Montreal Canadians) . Therefore this is not a good trade for the leafs. Would like to see Chychrun in a leaf uniform.
How about Kapanen and a goalie . they pick. not Anderson.

The Leafs do not need to clear space, they are fine. They will have to walk away from Gardiner and Hainsey after this season and likely pay someone to take Horton next summer for the final year of his deal. Won't be hard, cap hit is $5.3M while actual salary would be $3.6M

They will be fine, but will need some of the young D talent they have been drafting to step up over the next few years (Liljegren, Rasanen, Sandin, Nielsen, Durzi) . I am assuming Dermott is here to stay!

I love the original deal

Why does everyone have the Leaf goggles on. Nylander is good and skilled I will say a million times over. However, defensively he is Kessel. Heck he is Kessel in every way

Strome is a leader and buys into everything he has ever been told to do. Chychrun will be a solid dman now and for a long time.

I feel Arizona says no to this deal due to Demers would be needed to play with Gardiner.

So in closing

Strome, Chychrun, Cousins, Bunting
For
Nylander, Gardiner, Sparks or Pickard and Gauthier

I invision Strome getting rookie of the year playing with Taveras and Marner
Matthews Marleau Brown becoming one of the best 2 way lines while still getting 35+ out of Matthews
Kadri Johnson Kapanen being so fast and defensive while Kadri notches 25
Cousins Leivo Hyman would be hardnose with some scoring

Reilly, Hainsey, Dermott, Chychrun, Zaitsev, Carrick, Borgmann/ Rosen won't look as bad as everyone thinks when all 12 forwards are playing hard backchecking with great offensive forchecking and enough skill to net 3+ goals a game and only allowing just over 2 a game. why not fix the defensive liabilities before you pay them too much.

@craigers12: I can see strome playing in the AHL too. That family has proved to be moving but a bunch of kids who don’t reach their projected potential.
