Maple Leafs trade N.Kadri, J.Gardiner, the 25th overall pick in 2018 and K. Kapenen to the Ducks

Ducks trade A. Henrique, J. Silfverberg and prospects J. Larsson and M. Jones

I really don’t see Leafs trading Kadri and that sweet contract of his any time soon. We have a real lack of depth at center. We will be wanting to bring someone else in to go along with Kadri and Matthews, not looking to replace Kadri.

I also have serious doubts that Ducks would be looking at taking Gardiner. Besides the fact that he is a pending UFA, even if a contract was in place first, Anaheim has so many high quality defensemen and prospects that, like Carolina, they are looking to move defense to bring in forwards.

All these players are good. Even the prospects have excellent scouting reports. I just don’t think the fit is right for either team to be pulling the trigger on this deal.

Interesting but seems to be a bit of a sideways trade for both teams.
It doesn't hurt either team but doesn't seem to make either team appreciatively better.

I agree with LeafsGM here - Kadri isn’t going anywhere unless an equal or better shut down C is coming the other way.

Henrique is good but he is by no means a shutdown center. He’d slot nicely into our 3C tho is Kadri didn’t have to go back the other way.

This trade would make us much worse defensively.
