First move is two sign and trades

Tor: Paul Stastny (6x6)

Win: jvr (6x6)

Then sign Carlson to an (8x8.5)

The leafs will have to move a couple bodies but very doable also got to keep in mind hortons salary will be gone soon

The Leafs would be better just trying to sign Stastny as a UFA as the Jets have absolutely zero need for JVR. If the Jets did have Stastny signed, they would just keep him.

That’s a lot of money to be paying for a guy who only had 16 goals last year to be your third line center.

That’s an incredible amount of money to be paying for a one hit wonder like Carlson. Bettsy said it best: this years biggest surprise will be next year’s biggest bust.

1st of all, leafs do not have that kind of cap space especially when Marner and Matthews will need extentions
2nd of all, Stastny for 6 years? you realize he will be 33 starting next season right?
Carlson may not even be on the FA market
the only thing that makes sence here is resigning JVR for that price, (maybe a bit lower because he really wants to come back to Toronto, and sign him for 3 years instead of 6 if u can)

Stastny is already 32 years old!
Giving him a 6 year contract takes him until he is 38!
At $6 million a year?
Please, God, No.

Carlson is already 28 and closing in on 29 years old!
An 8 year contract takes him until he is almost 37 years old.
And he has never been an elite defenseman at the same level as a Karlsson, Doughty or Hedman.

Leafs have been making mistakes due to poor management for 50 years and have never been to the Cup Final in that period of time.
