Arizona get there kid I'm a die hard leafs fan but I think Mathews will be an issue , I'd say sign jt to a year max contract then sign him for 8 years give him captancy
Then pawn off oel and something to the kings and get doughty if feasible sign Thornton for your 3c try and dump Martin for a conditional pic

Pretty sure BUffalo has the 1st overall pick this year.

I’m all for entertaining proposals to trade Matthews. But this return is nowhere near what we could be asking.

Arizona sucks. What makes you think these guys would play any better wearing a Leafs uniform? I’d rather have Matthews than half of Arizona’s team.

You aren’t far off from your value for Matthews. According to RFA rules, if another team were to poach Matthews, the compensation would be four 1st round picks. So six first round picks has got to be just about right for a franchise #1 center of Matthews caliber.

I would still rather have Matthews than all those picks. You could go to the draft six times and still not get a player of Matthews caliber.

Matthews (a 1st line center) for two 1st round picks and two 3rd line players in Strome and Dvorak just doesn't cut it.
If you really want to trade Matthews (I don't) let's start with:
Clayton Keller
Jacob Chychrun
Lawson Crouse
2018 first round pick (#5)
2019 first round pick
That would perhaps be enough to get the talks started.
