I’d rather have kapanen than tanev. Adding the first is just embarrassing.

No. Absolutely not. Tanev is damaged goods and should be avoided at all costs. Vancouver is in desperate need of forwards, having traded Vanek and losing Sedin’s to retirement, but they have absolutely nobody on their team Leafs would want. The whole team sucks and will probably come dead last next year.

It always amazes me how many armchair GMs want to trade for Tanev and how much they are willing to give up for an older D man who spends as much time in rehab as he does on the ice.
This trade would be a big no for me.
I'm confident Leafs could get a better D man from Carolina for that price.

I would be extremely tempted to make this trade.

I mean I love Kapanen and all but when all you have to do it add such a small amount to aquire Tanev. can you say no? Our first round pick is basically a second round pick. Their second round pick is almost a first round pick. We’d likely only drop from 25OA to 35OA.

In reality - Vancouver will want Kap and the first for Tanev alone. But his history of injuries is very concerning tho so I like that you are returning a pick. Maybe we add a second to Kap for Tanev?

I just want to see him paired with Rielly so bad. If Hainsey could then baby sit Gardiner on the second pair in a reduced role we would be a better team next year. I like Hainsey. I just don’t think anyone should play as many minutes short handed as he does.

Ya it doesn’t have to be a first
Maybe if we throw in our first this year and next year they thrown in their first next year? What do u think?

Just so we’re clear - Tanev is an elite defensive defence man. He makes smart plays, blocks shots, has a good stick and has elite vision. Look as his stats compared to his teams. Yes, he’s had problems with injuries. A lot of different injuries, none have which have been serious. Most are even induced by taking blocks and not allowing anything past time. Anyone see him the puck to the face mid season last year? Leafs have the best medical care in the league. I’d take him at this price even if only for 60 games to stay healthy for playoffs.

Everybody whines about wanting a 1RHD and this guy gets you one on a good contract without sacrificing the entire farm. I love Kapanen, he is a great player. I just think the leafs will have a much easier time filling in a winger than they would a dman.

I agree with LeafsGM and Hugh Allan i think there is a better deal then Tanev out there. If not let's keep what we have and stay the course.

I would really appreciate it if you would always throw Gardiner in any and all trades .

Thank you
